As America celebrates Veterans Day by honoring its men and women who have served in the military, MilitaryPlanet.com invites all veterans to connect within its newly launched social networking community exclusively for Armed Forces personnel and veterans.

"This is our way of honoring our brothers and sisters in arms, from
active duty personnel currently deployed overseas to veterans of every

question is: 'Where Are You Now?' We realize that there are many
differences in reconnecting veterans versus civilians, so we created this
site with search tools different from any other social network. Members of

"The Department of Defense has banned our service members overseas from many of the existing social networks due to incredible demands on
bandwidth, constant streaming video, oversaturated advertising throughout the sites and sometimes questionable content," said Vanderneck. "Our site has a very streamlined overall design, which is critical for use by the online military community. MilitaryPlanet offers active duty personnel the ability to stay connected while deployed because we created the site with military installations in mind."

Here in Canada, it's called Remembrance Day with the tagline, "Lest we forget."

This sounds like a cool thing. I'm gonna check it out. I hope it's not limited to just U.S. military personnel.

Almost every other Friday at our weekly divisional meeting we get told of the perils of Facebook and MySpace and our need to present a "good" image to the public for the Canadian Military. It would be nice to have a venue to relate to other serving members and vets where we could let our hair down (so to speak).
