Samsung introduces an 8 megapixel camera module

sam8 Would you have imagined the possibility of an 8 megapixel camera in your phone?  Well, with the speed of technology you probably knew it would come someday and that someday is here ... NOW!  Samsung has announced that the time when there is a possibility of taking the photograph of 8000000 pixels with the hand phone arrived!  They just revealed that they have developed a CMOS camera module that will give you the ability to take some pretty sweet photos with your device.  The translation is a little rough to read but you will definitely get the drift.

The folks at Phone Scoop caught this item and were able to decipher out that the module has the same footprint as Samsung's 3.2 Megapixel module at 10.5 X 11.5 X 9.4mm. It measures 3,264 x 2,444 pixels, has autofocus and can produce 300dpi picture output for prints as large as 10 x 8 inches. The module is expected to go into mass production in the first half of 2008 and should be available in high-end Samsung phones later in 2008.

There really is no point in an 8MP camera on a phone like this - the pixel bleeding and curvature becomes awful. In fact, there is no point in going beyond 3MP with such small apertures and sensors.
