Firefox - two releases in one week

fff3

This week Mozilla released a new version on Monday and then followed with a second release very quickly to fix a bug found in the first release.  Of course they said that "The bug affects a specific use case of the Canvas tag, which is not yet in wide use" and that added:"We used our standard process of releasing a beta to tens of thousands of users and had no reports of this issue prior to the full release of 2.0.0.10. Once we became aware of the issue, we worked overtime to address it."

So in any event, the new release is pretty good ... so far I like it.  You can check your version by clicking on Help then About.

The new version, Firefox 2.0.0.11 is now available for Windows, Mac, and Linux for free download.

You can also update manually by selecting Check for Updates from the Help menu.

BTW, the second update took seconds to download and install .... not a big deal

I am getting sick and tired of seeing firefox updates day after day. One day it is going to crash during upgrade and I will lose all of my settings. It happened once. I am going to disable automatic updates.

I have no issues whatsoever with the automatic updates nor with the frequency of the updates. Good job, I say, Mozilla/Firefox!

As for loosing settings, I back up my PC on a regular basis, as I do with my PDA and my SD & CF memory cards. Data loss is a failure of the user's processes, not of any software or hardware. With a good set of tested processes in place all a hardware or software error or failure is is a minor inconvenience.

I don't mind the updates at all. I'd rather have it updated to the latest version than to have security issues. It only takes a few seconds- not a big deal really. I've been using Firefox exclusively (on lots of different PCs) since it came out and haven't had any issues of losing my settings or crashes- guess I'm just lucky.

I have to check something on the internet before i leave. It will just take a sec...

"Firefox is installing updates and will start in a few moments"

C'mon firefox im in a hurry!
Oh look, theres new versions of my add-ons too. This update just had to happen when i was in a hurry. Not when i had time to waste...

Its true though, it always seems that it wants to update when im in a hurry to just check 1 thing before i leave or something...
