Probably comes from watching the movie Conspiracy Theory too many times but this is the second time in a month that this great program has been given away for free, a VERY RARE occurrence even for a lousy program. Now for the theory, is this all a ploy to get as many new owners as possible so that when Pocket Informant 8.0 comes out soon as scheduled, all us "gotta have the latest" owners just have to ante up for the new version?

Of course it's a way to get you to upgrade. It's called marketing.
Thanks, I downloaded this when I got home. When I purchased PI 2005, I missed the free upgrade period to PI 2007 by just two weeks, so this sought of makes up for it. :) I know the release of PI 8.0 seems just right around the corner, but I think its main advantages is more for one-handed navigation for smartphones.
Alas....I tried to take advantage of this excellent offer, but my poor old Axim doesn't qualify as a suitable candidate. I guess it soon will be time to get that Tilt i've tried not to notice. Come on Dell......make 2008 something to talk with....er ....about.....

Or am I ?
You are 1001% right, but who cares?.
If anyone didn't have PI 2007 before then this was another great chance to own the No.1 PIM on the market.
Alex has, on more than one occasion, admitted that the free offer of PI2007 was done solely to entice new users into buying the upgrade when it comes.
Ultimately though users have the chance to own a great piece of software for nothing. Can't be bad.

Nonentity is right. Most of the software vendors allow for free trials of their software. For the software makers, it is a form of advertising; for the users, it is a form of enticement. But it is fair--if a person wants to buy it, then she has the chance to know what she is getting.
This give-away is even more generous. The recipient can try out the program and, when an upgrade comes along, step up. The same recipient can keep and use the very fine program as is, too.
Thanks everyone... I now have my new and shiny copy :)

Got free copy yesterday!:approve: I have moved to the HTC Advantage.... and let my x50V Axim go to my son (he had better start learning it!)
It works well with the Advantage- With that 5" screen it's great! I had absolutely no trouble installing it (to the main storage- not the micro-drive or storage card).
Thanks to all for the give-away notice- I've got the headlines of Aximsite on my firefox search page- so I don't miss anything!:celebrate
