Windows Mobile 7 Multi-Touch?

Say it isn't so... I have no knowledge of this, but that doesn't mean it might not be far fetched since I haven't had the chance to check out anything beyond WM6 yet.

Bad news for for iPhone users. Hilton Locke, test engineers working for Windows Mobile 7, says that Windows Touch Technology will support Multi-Touch, which it’s functional in Vista. This is a step forward because you can give more complex commands using Multi-Touch and it has much more input options, also more elaborated interactions. This is supposed to boost sales for Microsoft and might also motivate other cellphone companies develop Multi-Touch capable devices.

I'm still using mobile 5, maybe I'll just skip mobile 6 all together and jump straight to mobile 7 which sound freakin' cool.

Before they think about implementing such processor intensive features, they should consider getting manufacturers to make sleeker and more useful phones (if we are thinking this will finally rival iPhone). Otherwise, MS should just continue going their way, while Apple will go theirs. I just don't see business users limit themselves to Apple's iPhone or to WM7 (whenever it arrives).

Before WM7 can be implemented with Multi-Touch, the hardware manufacturers will have to reverse the trend of shrinking the screens on newer WM devices.

The 3.7" beauty I am using right now would work (X51v), but think about using two fingers for navigation or input on a 2.8" or smaller screen.

Imagine using your fingers for inputting on a T-Mobile Dash!

The HTC Advantage (5" screen) and the new HP iPaq 210 (4" screen) are much more suitable for Multi-Touch than most of the WM based phones available today.
