Given the drivers obviously mass storage is the immediate application so with an external drive, our dell ultra mobile projector from work and the vga out cable you've got a portable cinema that my girlfriend could fit in her handbag (she does have rather a large handbag).

I'd love to be able to use it to hook up to wind monitoring equipment out on the side of mountains that I have to inspect. That would beat taking out a laptop in the rain!

But purely for the uselessness of it, setting up in a coffee shop with a hotspot and taking a skype call on one of those big clunky retro telephones would be the bomb.

Someone is going to have to be busy with all the drivers for everyone's suggestions!!!!!!

Yup, I'm in

I would use it to bring live video into my X51V.
Many uses, surveilence, on the back of my
rig when I go off roading.
Even video of driving like when on a trip.
Cross your fingers.
Sleepy.

Not vaporware anymore....

Sounds like an amazing product. Glad that it FINALLY became reality after being vaporware for YEARS.

I'd use it for file transfer to/from USB thumb drives for sure, and perhaps with a full-sized keyboard every now and then.

Drivers are probably still a sore spot, but adding a standard USB web cam for videoconferencing via my Axim X50V would be quite cool....

Maybe if I don't win, I'll add it to my Birthday wish list????

Aximsite ROCKS!!! :approve:

I would connect it to an ext. drive while on the road for storing photos while on tours. Cool device - didn't know you could do that.

As a computer enginnier testing recently the world of PPC and the beautifull beasty named AXIM X51v i'd love to use it for developping all types of device controllers, for the world wide variety of USB devices like the imposible ones TV Turners, 3G Broadband modems, and 3D scanner (what the hell is that, may you ask, is for making 3D model from real world objects), and after they are ready, release them for public domain. GNU Ruuuulllesss¡¡¡¡¡

THE PERFECT POCKET PC BECOME EVEN BETTER, THE LATEST PERFECT MACHINE, GOD BLESS AXIM AND SOLAR EXPRESS

i use my x51v mostly for previewing raw images i shoot. this would be amazing not for backing up, but attempting to interface this with my canon's for a real time preview and exif manipulation on photos real time through the pda instead of being forced to have a laptop there using canon's available sdk. in a similar manner to breezebrowsers dslr remote pro but in a watered down manner.

i'm a simple man

as the title suggests i'm a simple man.

with cf and sd cards getting bigger by the day storage isn't a problem for me.

what i would do first is as simple as attach a standard keyboard to my axim. sure, you may think that it negates the portability of a pda but for my writing i do most of it on the pda and am sick of the need to transfer files when i have a pc and keyboard. pda and keyboard and desk makes sense to me.

of course i would have to buy a new keyboard as well, one where the shift keys work............ :rolling:

Hmm, I'd utilize it with a barcode scanner attached to my x51v, so that I could easily scan serials and assets from the equiptment I work on all day. All without having to lug my laptop thruout the building.

I would use it for external drives (Music, File, Video Storage), thumbdrives (Data Exchange), keyboard&mouse (maybe), barcodescanner (productcode scanning etc...), fingerprint secured thumbdrive (secure storage), camera (foto-transfer to device), and other devices that will work with win mobile.

I'd use it with my x51v to view all the documents I carry around on the USB drive that never seem to make it onto my SD card.

Why I'd like USB port on my Axim x50V

The USB port would enable connecting to as many external devices as may be compatable. Of particular interest to me would be a keyboard to make typing so much easier. An external hard drive for file assess and transfer would be very nice too. Also connecting a printer and DVD drive would be quite useful.
