I am particularly not very happy with this guy named porkster if I remembered correctly who is an anti-axim!!! He is persuading people from buying an axim and he is stating some very negative comments about axim and always tries to dig out something bad to say about axim!!! Isn't this site supposed to be axim haven???
I would also like to request patience when a questions has been answered before. I do use the search feature because I hate asking a stupid question but it can return my issued buried in one sentence in a post with 10 responses. So sometimes reading past posts doesn't completely answer my question.
The responses I have gotten here have been very very helpful. thanks to all.
Originally posted by brandenpro I was over at another forum, for pocket quake, I couldnt believe how hostile everyone was over there. I would rather deal with the same post over and over then sift through all the flame wars. Even the Mod was grumpy.

Hmm...troll-ed. Is the root of that troll? As in big, green, and a bad attitude? :D (or is that Hulked?) Keep up the great work, this is my all time favorite forum for many reasons.
I believe the root "troll" is actually the fishing term where you are in a boat and just leave your fishing line "trolling" in the water behind you as you putter through the water looking to catch some fish.

I agree with you 110%. I have probably asked the same question twice because I couldn't get the right search word to find the topic. Moreover, this site is so dynamic that last week's posts may as well be last years.
I hope that all the veteran axim users are patient with the newb's. I know personally that when I first got my ax it was overwhelming and I am fairly computer literate. It is a slightly different ball game and it's abilities are, well, "you have to see it to believe it" type awe. I mean, when I play movies on my ax, people are just shocked.
This community is one of the best. I would have to say that many of the posters are very sincere about helping others.
thanks all

Let me say that I am not he. Let me also state that he is not yet ready to come out and play. He has some "niceness" issues, still.
However, it is our hope that he will join us soon..........he certainly has more creativity than I.
I only ask that those of you who know star, to not push this subject, he will return (in one form or another) in all good time........when the time is right.

I agree with Chris and let's keep Aximsite a friendly community. There are a lot of newbies asking the same questions over and over again. We are here to help and not to tell them to search the forums themselves since they don't know. At least give them a link on where to find the thread of their specific problem. Don't even bother replying to a newbie's question if all you're gonna say is search the forums. :)
I just purchased an Axim last week and stumbled into this site. I am impressed with the wealth of knowledge and the way everyone cooperates. It is a great site and I want to thank everyone who made it what it is today.
First I'd like to say, yep this is a great forum and mostly people are really great.
Yes we see alot of people asking the same questions over and over. I always try to be patient and answer those questions when I can because I firstly don't know that alot of people are experts at using computers and may not know exactly what to search for. Also a freindly response to a new person improves the chances they will come back and become an active part of the community and hopefully in time as they learn more be able to help other people that join after them.
As for things that "break the rules" which none of us like to see... there is a "report post" button. I don't think it would hurt if the moderators blacked out parts of a post... I agree it shouldn't happen in the first place, but it will, and so it should be removed so as not to set an example or more improtantly make anyone feel unwelcome.
Keeps smiling everyone, support each other and a good time will be had by all. I think that is what it is all about.
I see more and more posts by new members who, if not completely satisfied or successful with their Axim or an accessory, post with a subject of "XXXX Sucks!!!!!!!". Then when they get an answer or solution, the post and its poor title live on forever. Moderators ought to soften these post titles a bit and "talk" to those posters.
And the simple task of RTFM seems to be forever lost. Newbies try something (Feature on their Axim, an application, etc.), don't immediately know how to use it, and post for someone to explain it all to them, step by step. A lot of requests are understandable, and this thread covers searching the forums for solutions first. But many are so basic that it's obvious they never even read the set-up poster. Folks are making a $300 to $500 purchase, and another few hundred on apps and accessories, and don't want to read even the most basic instructions. All too often the advice they get is from another newbie who doesn't really know either.
Maybe a real basic (third grade level?) list of basic forum rules and tips should be the first thing new users see when they register.
Can I make a simple suggestion about the FAQs? They are very general, yet they are placed under directories by model. Maybe it would be better to groupcategories differently, for example:
Software - General Comments
- Windows 2003 and 2003
- Windows 2002
