My history is short and simple. I got the cingular version of startrk last black friday. It was split in half after somebody ran into me and I dropped it.
Then I temporarily borrowed my brother's treo 750, which was fine, but the screen was too small for my taste.
I've been keeping a keen eye or two on the touch pro, and finally got the at&t version (the fuze) this black friday.

I started with a Casio BOSS and used the VisiCalc software to its fullest, trying to achieve something like programming.

Then I got the PalmPilot Pro, which changed my life. I upgraded to a III and then to a IIIc (the color was too seductive). Then I met the Clie Nx70, still my favorite.

However, it was a fragile device. When the screen contacts broke down, I took the plunge to Windows Movile with the Dell Axim x50v (which I still use).

My main problem is that I like having a computer in my pocket, and I do NOT want a phone (I'm not a phone guy; I like to keep that separate). Unfortunately, the market has left me behind, and I am awaiting the next great PDA (and will likely keep on waiting ...)

Smartphone History

Hi everyone!

Well unfortunately I don't have very much of a history to tell, however it may be interesting. We have to go back about nine years, I was using an old Nokia, just your average cellular phone. I had seen what I thought was the phone of my dreams, the Motorola MPx200! It was awesome, the colors where so cool and it was so shiny. It had windows and web browsing, I had to have it.

So I took the plunge and $200.00 dollars later I had what I thought was the latest and greatest mobile device. That was the year I became a Windows Mobile victim! I had suffered though a few months of using this device, in the middle of calls it would lock up, blank screens, had to remove the battery about four to six times daily to be able to resume use. It was a nightmare to say the least.

Now that I have grown tired of my old but very reliable Razr V3, that I have had for the last six years, I am more than ready to put my trust in Windows again and I have had my eye on the Fuze for a few months now.
Hope I win!

My PDA history started with a Palm IIIx and a lot of money on batteries, once a month replacement. Currently, I'm using a Dell Axim X51v that I purchased two and a half years ago and have been very happy with.

As far as smart phones go, I've got a cheap Nokia that remembers phone numbers I call.

Now, if Dell had been really smart he would have added a real internal gps receiver, phone, and wireless N to the X51v and produced it for all us electronic geeks.

mm, seem like I didn't post in this thread...

My history is simple.
I got a x51v due to a friend recommendation. I also received a iPaq (still don't know which model) for my job. Those are the only PDAs I have.

Aximsitex5icon My Pda History

I Started Almost Two Years Ago With My One And Only Htc Herald(t--mobile Wing)

At First I Didn't Realize The Potential My Phone Had, And Was Not To Intrigued.

Now Almost Two Years Later, I Must Say That I'm The Biggest Nerd On The Planet. I've Even Gone As Far As To Post Video On Youtube About How Cool I Can Make My Phone.

Judging From My Overwhelming Response, I Seem To Have Picked Up Rather Quickly About What These Phones Are Capable Of And Am Anxiously Waiting To Get My Hands On A New Device.

The Touch Pro (fuze) To Me Is The Next Thing In Line For Me And I Just Wish T-mo Would Bring It Onboard.

Needless To Say I'm Infatuated With The Capabilities That These Phones Bring And Will Forever Stay Faithful To My Pda/ppc.

Cheers Everyone.

Happy Holidays.

started with a handspring (!), then quickly moved to an early compaq, then to a small HP, then onto a Dell 50v, 51v, and now HP211 when my Ax headphone jack quit. i wish i sold these; every time i travel i could sell one or two to those who ask about it.

I have YET to own a smartphone OR a PDA :( I've always wanted to try them out. It seems like they would give you a lot of options... Hopefully I'll win this one and finally see what it 's all about :)

I would have laughed if you mentioned the possibility of me owning a PDA a couple of months ago! I searched high and low for a laptop that would fit my budget the last couple of months. I was aghast at the prices and thought I'd be doomed to ball-and-chain desktop hell!

I was browsing through sites one day and saw an Axim 50 mid for sale. It screamed in capped letters BLUETOOTH, IRDA, AND WIFI. I knew the screens were small but Hey!

At least I could get on the internet with it. I mean don't get me wrong I had other uses in mind for it. Like the ability to have it double as a MP3 player and a game module for those waits for an appointment. I winded up getting two X30 highs for a good deal. Now that I've pretty much done the research I REALLY REALLY want to get me an X51v! I love my x30 high so far but the 51v is calling me.

The PDA is a great now. I still love the desktop at home but for on the go and ultra-light computing the X30 has done it's job well :)

Well my history is simple as far as PDA/Smartphone goes. I have never owned one. I have never really been able to get my self to cough up the money or even have the money when I need it for food and bills. I have used a Sprint Pocket PC for one of my jobs but I didn't own it.

My first smartphone was the sony ericsson t68i, i even had the crappy add on camera attachment!

Then i was introduced to the P800 until my fat ass sat on the screen and broke it, I loved that phone. I replaced it with Motorola MPX220, eh it was decent, not the most awesome phone, i could never hear the damn ringer on that thing and if i was in a loud room forget it.

My next real PDA phone was the I-mate pda2k. This phone was awesome! Even though it was like holding a freakikng brick next to your face. But it was awesome. I still have it, i think all of the screws have fallen out on the sides, and stylus falls out, but its still a pretty solid phone. After that i to the HTC Wizard, then the TYTN, and right now i have a Tilt. IF my tytn hadnt died at the teeth of a very board 5 month old lab, i think i would still be using it.

and then theres my Blackberry stint. I went from a pearl to a curve, email was great and contacts etc... worked flawlessly, but it just wasn't fun. I couldnt tinker with them or anything except make the trackball change different colours hahaha. Oh and dont get me started on the web browser! I went back to the tilt, with blackberry connect though hahaha.

Thats my smartphone/pda history =)

My first was a Palm III back in the late 90's. I then took my wife's Visor after she never used it. I remember playing Wheel of Fortune often in college...

Got out of PDAs for quite a few years until 2007 when I got my 8525. It has been wonderful!! It has been underwater twice; once in a commode after I fell asleep (don't ask...it was crappy), and once after I took a wave over the side of a kayak.

I took it apart completely both times and dried everything -- works fine, no problems.

I'm looking forward to the Fuze! I will really get a kick out of VGA...woot!

My history is that I had a Dell Axim x50 -- won it as a door prize the day before my youngest daughter was born. Unfortunately, about a year and a half later I dropped it on my new laminate floor and cracked the screen.

Since then I've just been making do with my phones, my Sony Ericsson w810i isn't bad, not really a smartphone but it's got some good Java apps on it. I also have a big fat laptop.
