Since my first PDA, I have been hooked. I use it as my personal day to day life, not for business. I can rarely be found without my right hand man.
My PDA history is as follows:
Palm OS PDA's-
Palm m100
Palm IIIe
Sony Clie SJ20
With much sadness I retired my last palm device and moved on to the much more convenient and easy to carry (not to mention color, wi-fi, and web enabled)...
PDA phones-
Cingular 8125
AT&T Tilt (my current device, which is customized to just the way I like it, largely thanks to lurking in these forums)
I started with a CASIO 125 and was so happy to find the Dell X5 two years later. I was an early X50v owner and found aximsite when trying to find solutions to my screen not being able to align correctly. My X50v and Aximsite served me very well through the years despite going back and forth with WM5 no less than four times.
Just less than a month ago I got an HP 210 and I'm extremely happy with it. The extra memory and WM6 go a long way to just having a device that does what you want when you want it.
I constantly read mobilitysite waiting for the device that will merge my needs between my PDA and cellphone but I'm happy to have them separate for the time being. My HP 210 and my PEBL get me through any work demand I have on the road.
Happy birthday to Aximsite/Mobilitysite and thanks for the great service through the years as well as the great support of your subscribers.
I suppose my first PDA was the old Apple Newton. I remember taking it to a grad class and hooking it up to a portable keyboard for taking notes. The other guys in the class -- from the ones using good ol' paper & pencil to those lugging around bulky and expensive laptops -- were amazed. I loved that thing.
Since then, I've been through a wide range of Microsoft based PDAs, from a couple of iPaqs to a Toshiba model and a Dell Axim and now to the AT&T Tilt.
But my Dad came visiting from out-of-town this week, and he couldn't help show off his Fuze. I have envy BIG TIME! I can't justify the expense this year, but would love this phone! (Well, I'd really love an HTC Touch Pro HD, but since I live in the US... *sigh*)
Next: Fuze (most likely). I'm finding myself drawn to HTC devices for their hack-ability and strong community support. I'm hoping Android will get ported to other HTC devices for added versatility.
my VERY FIRST pda was a Palm Vx.. wow.. to this day.. no color screen device can match it's visibility in direct sunlight (though undoubtedly PUMMELED in the "visibility in the dark" department... miserable indiglo backlight.. uuugh). All of that topped with a WHOPPING 8mb of internal storage (no sd cards at the time) i was SET FOR LIFE! Or so I thought...
Years later I sprung for a Tungsten E. Loved that device .. but meh.. I later got the Tungsten T5 which completely ROCKED MY WORLD.. LOVED the storage feature and tons of internal memory AND a SD slot.
I picked up a few more Palm devices and pretty much just became a collector at that point (still had my E, got an E2, and a T3). Soon however, I was enticed by windows mobile and picked up an Ipaq for $40 off of ebay.. i was hooked!
Soon after I picked up an axim x51v. I LOVED IT. But eventually the idea of having a persistent connection to the internet convinced me to get an 8125 which led to me eventually selling my beloved axim.. which i'll admit... feels like a HORRIBLE ... HORRIBLE mistake to me now. I've since upgraded to the Tilt and still have my sad collection of palm devices laying around and collecting dust. LOL.
I blame it all on the Palm Pilot Pro, but my addiction counselor says it would be better if I could accept the responsibility myself. I had a couple of differnt Palm devices in the early days, but then I discovered Pocket PC and never switched back. The first of those was a Jornada 540, but other notables (that I carried for more than a few months) include the Dell Axim X50 and a HP Jornada 620LX.
It's past time to feed the addiction with a new device!

My first "PDA" was some little device that I don't even remember the brand but it was a proprietary thing that was "what you see is what you get." You could not sync or add software - just a dumb calendar and todo list.
Then I got a little PDA from a Palm spinoff (was it HandSpring??) but it was too limited in memory and function.
So, in '03, I bought a Sony Clie' (PEG--TJ35/U) just before Christmas. I still have it and it still works! I like the functions, that I could add software & the display was really nice. But I was frustrated with Sony's implementation of the Palm software. I could never get it to sync well and I could not get the updated Palm Sync s/w to work with the device. I finally put it into a drawer and it remains there today.
Next, I bought a Motorola V551 phone that allowed me to get online (via a proxy) and do some stuff. It was better and worse than the offline Clie.
Finally, in 2006, I bought a Cingular 8125 (HTC Wizard) with WM5. I was delighted that it would connect to the REAL Internet (not a proxy) and that I could sync the contacts & calendar, etc. I found more software than I could use (and bought more than I could afford). Then I started loading up a lot of free (downloaded) software from the Internet. It gave me a lot of capability but WM5 was a drag - especially with too much stuff loaded up on the device.
Sites such as your Mobility Site/Axim Site encouraged me to stretch my nerve a bit. So, after a few months, I took the dive and reformatted the device and loaded up a "cooked" version of WM6. That OS, plus a few other apps have made my device a totally integral part of my life. I RARELY go anywhere without it! I even added an external GPS & installed turn-by-turn software. My Wizard does it all.
But, I have had to replace the device once and the current device is showing a lot of physical wear & tear. Also, new technologies abound and my Wizard's 200mhz processor is SLLOOOWWWW. I am beginning to get "upgrade fever" and the Fuze looks very appealing. However, if I am to receive one for Christmas, it will either be from Santa (VERY unlikely) or this contest (hopefully, a sure thing!). Thanks for the opportunity to enter.
My pda history...hmm.
I believe it was a palm zire 71 that started it all off. Then I decided to merge into a smartphone so I wouldn't have to carry two devices. So it was a blackberry 7100 that started it, now I have a pearl that decided to take a bath in vitamin water, so the zero sticks a bit...lol. My future plans do include an HTC Fuze, but alas, I have to wait until April, when my contract is up. So my pearl with the sticky key will have to work for a while! haha. I'd love to get one earlier than that hint hint...
