I started with a great little DOS device... an HP 200LX. Loved it!
A 3270 style monochrome screen in 80 column format and a full key board. This was in the days of IBM's Profs being the state of the art email system! My greatesst success was getting the HP200LX to sync with the mainframe Profs.

From there I went onto PalmVx , much more sophisticated and touch screen!
Nowadays I use an Axim 51v, love it! Only problem is it gets so much use that the screen is a bit worn, the buttons don't always work and the battery latch... well you probably know!

Oh to reflect back on my device history. I started using PDA's in 9th grade to organize my school work and tasks. I had a Palm III, and a few years after upgraded to a Palm IIIc. (8 bit color!)

3 years later I was upgrading to a Dell Axim x50, (which only lasted a year before winding up on ebay to be replaced by an x51v).

Determined to make my next device a phone/pda combo i last year got a Tilt. I have loved it's design, Direct push, and WM6.1. Unfortunately my Tilt met an untimely demise, a number of the keys stopped working....and it took then took a nasty spill.

Currently I',m back on the x51v ()..........waiting for a Fuze.

My PDA/Phone History

Oh, I go way back. I bought a Handspring Visor (translucent blue) on the first day they went on sale. It changed my life. I had spent years trying every kind of calendar/reminder/contacts system ever invented. Now, finally, I was generally on time and knew how to contact people. I took it everywhere. On the day the Handspring Visor Prism went on sale, I bought that one. I had to have color. I passed down the old one to my wife.

My next PDA was the Sony CLIE NX-60. I bought it...you guessed it...the first day it hit the stores. This purchase was all about the PDA goodness combined with Wi-Fi, a lot more memory, and that really cool thumbwheel on the side. The Prism got passed down to the wife. I still use the CLIE at home every day, to read the New York Times, Salon, and other publications via AvantGo. It's great for late night reading in bed, and in the -ahem- smallest room in the house.

A year ago, I got what I really wanted: A PDA combined with a phone. On the first day they showed up in the then-Cingular stores, I bought my AT&T Tilt (HTC 8925). Sure, it's a little big and a little heavy, but it's a fully-featured PDA married to a quad-band GSM phone with 3G, Wi-Fi, and GPS. I was over the moon! I still am. Me and my Tilt have been all over the U.S., Canada, U.K., France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Greece, Russia, and China. I've tricked it out with a new UI (Spb Mobile Shell), dozens of apps (paid and freeware), plenty of tweaks (KaiserTweak), and it syncs with my Google Calendar (via OggSync), which syncs with my Outlook calendar at work and Plaxo.

Could it get any better? Well, I've spent far too many hours at the AT&T store playing with the Fuze. It's got all the Tilt goodness in a svelte, sexy little form factor.

If I don't win one here, it'll be my Christmas present to me.

My PDA/Smartphone history started off with the ill-advised purchase of an ancient blackberry (5xxx series or something) via eBay nonetheless. turns out I couldn't actually make calls on it because the seller lied about it being unlocked. Long story short, I used it for the games and promptly misplaced it. Then, late last year, I came across a $99 deal for a treo 750 in exchange for signing 2 yrs of my life to att. I bit and that's my current smart phone. However, there isn't a happy ending to this tale because a few weeks ago, my screen cracked and I'm stuck with a half-assed treo 750. So, yes, the Fuze would rock my socks off if I won it. :)

I only have one PPC: Dell Axim X51 (mid), bought in 2006. I have also only owned one cell phone (not a smartphone), bought in December 2007.

My history is just beginning. I've been following smartphones and professional devices for a couple of years now and i'm becoming a fan of HTC. I've just received the htc touch diamond and would love to have the fuze. Then i could have the best of both worlds!

I started way back with a Casio E-105, then to a Casio E-125. (There are still some nice things about their form factor I like, in spite of the old tech) From there, I moved to HP Ipaqs: 5455, 5555, hx4705.

I've also had a Dell Axim x51v. My next was an HP Ipaq 211. Still love those devices, but got tired of having to rely on a wifi connection. (Hey, they can be sparse out where my family lives) So I am now using an ATT Tilt.

Wow, that's a lot of $ spent on devices. Hate to think of what I've spent on accessories & software...

Congrats on 6 years Chris!

Another X5 user, then to the x50v which I still have and use.
Currently using a Tilt as my first WinMo phone. Had a BB 8700 before that.

Well, I started with Aximsite and Windows Mobile with the AXIM x30 Mid and a phone... two years later I went with the Verizon 700w, then manipulated the system to get a 700wx. Just last year, I switched to the HTC Touch (xv6900) but would LOVE to have a real keyboard again! Totally willing to switch!!

Gosh, that takes me back a long way! Let's see, I started out with an Atari Portfolio, then a Zeos Pocket PC (more like what we think of today as a netbook or UMPC). Then a Casio Zoomer. From there, it was a Psion Series 5, then a Sharp Mobilon 4500. Next was an HP Jornada 540. After that came a Dell Axim X5, then an Axim X50v. From there I "converged" and had a Cingular 8525, which I have now traded for an HTC Fuze. (I'm in this contest to try to get one for my wife, whose phone was just stolen; she's using her previous clunky dumb-phone, and I'd like to upgrade her to a Fuze.)
