Downloaded and "installed". Rebooted my laptop and BAM! Had to reinstall Windows.
Had 13 corrupted files including several that were imperative to Windows operation. Couldn't even use the "Repair" option or the Recovery console.
All due to the "new" DirectX download.
All data gone.

At least I have backup disks that are only about a month old.

I'll not be installing the new runtime anytime soon.
