I just want to hear it go RING RING

When I am out and someone is trying to call, I just want to hear my phone RING ... I don't care for all those special ring tones, they just don't interest me. Give me the old Ring Ring and I'm happy.

Yeah, I know, I am probably in a very small minority there so for those of you that do like a variety and if you're a Verizon Customer, you can get a Free Ringtone on New Year's Eve. MobileBurnposted a story the other day that they were contacted by aVerizon Wireless press representative to let them know that a free ringtone download was available on New Years Eve. Verizon customers simply need to text the word "Tone" to the number 2007 with their phone and they will receive instructions as to how they can download a free ringtone of their choosing. You cancheck out the list of available ringtones at the Verizon Wireless Get It Now website. Just remember that the code only works for Verizon Wireless customers and is only valid on New Years Eve, December 31st. via JAMM

Any offers for Cingular customers? Just curious. Not that I need them; I'm swamped with ringtones. Thank God I never buy them! I have Audacity and Able MIDI editor, so I'm set there. Probably too much hassle for the average bear.

Thanks for the heads-up, Jack! I'm a Verizon customer and at least for my phone, you pretty much have to buy ringtones. It isn't as easy as it is for some phones & providers.

You've touched on one of my pet peeves about many cell phones these days: Why can't I have an actual ring? Nope, gotta have a dozen different musical tones, dance tunes, etc. My phone did not have anything coming close to resembling an actual ring. It didn't have to be an old-style ring. Heck, most of the landline phones we have are beeps, trills, etc. But they are something that I recognize as a "ring".

I missed the first several calls because I kept wondering what that stupid noise was. (Boy, did I feel stupid). So I actually went and bought an old-fashioned ring for a ringtone. I think it was actually called that. Guess someone figured they had a guaranteed ringtone sale from people like me. Okay, enough of my rant...

Yeah... Out of all the phones that I have owned, never once have I changed from the defult ringtone. I don't see why people get all crazy over ringtones.

I used to like the tones that go 'ring ring', but my phone came with 4 different tones like that and apparently every provider has them as well.

now I have to use a mp3 ringtone,just so I can tell if it is my phone.

current tone is Sirius by Alan Parsons Project... used to be wizards in winter by trans siberian orchestra

I don't get crazy over ringtones, but I always make fun of people who leave the "Nokia Song" on their phones... it rings and fifty people in the theater go for their phones at once! Set your phasers on stun, guys. And get a unique ringtone so you can tell your phone from others... and so I don't have to listen to Nokia Song again! I hate that song!!!

I made my own "old school ring tone" it actually goes "ring-ring"
I'll pass it around if anyone is interested...

I make my own ringtones, I don't believe in paying for a 15(ish) second clip that I can make myself :)
Having a Razr is good for mods!
