Day 2 with the Cingular/AT&T Palm Treo 750

You want to know how well a phone is doing in an evaluation? How few times it "gets" you. When you can go a complete day without getting upset at something it does differently than previous devices, you know you have a good thing! So far, the Treo 750 has not upset me. What is funny to watch is me using this thing one handed as if the screen were not a touch screen. I have gotten so used to smartphones, particulary the BlackJack, that I still keep forgetting that the Treo 750 has a touch screen. What did I learn about this phone today?
I already have a good feel for the Treo 750 based on experience with the 700w and 700wx models, but one thing that Palm has done just takes the cake when compared to others. The ringer menu. I know that you can set certain ringtones to each contact, to unknown callers, etc... but no phone I have used to date makes it as easy to setup as the custom work that Palm has done with this menu.
Click the photos for a larger version... Another rough day on this phone and it got to sleep on the cradle at about 7pm with 25\% of it's juice left. This is a workhorse! When comparing the Treo 750 to the Treo 700w, it handles applications and day to day activities much better than the 700w and 700wx. One my 2nd day, I am not ready to give up my BlackJack yet, but I am getting used to the 750, watch out!

I miss Windows Mobile

I can't wait to trade my Treo 650 for the Treo 750. The 650 is nice but it has the Palm OS which is also ok, but I miss windows mobile.

I hear ya Trudge. My dad is itching to move from the 650 too. He is flip-flopping between the 8525 and the 750.

Wow, I can't believe it is full of those features. It seems like a well thought design and all the features that were missing.

And as for comparing blackjack to treo, it is no comparison.. not even the same ballpark. The beauty and functionality of Treo, with the touch screen, and completely different core of WM5 SP vs WM5 PPC editions makes a huge difference. I wouldn't think a second if this thing was available on T-Mobile.
Maybe 2 YR contract, with discount, $400? Not bad.. :)

You dont have to wait to get it on t-mobile, from what I understand... unlocking phones is totally legal in the US now. But of course, if price is an issue, you'd be better off waiting.

I'm so totally interested in a Treo 750.. The thing that kills me though (and I'm not sure I could handle dealing with it) is the display.. I gotta have my portrait or landscape display. Couldn't handle dealing with a square display.

Available late
January 2007
at Palm.com and
Palm Retail Stores.

Even palm site links to Cingular. So not much luck there. Plus unlocking Palm device will be difficult than those Nokias that people unlock easily.

One question, does anyone have any idea how much Cingular charges on a cancellation? Forget about Amazon, they charge about $500 just to recover the costs. So I might be able to get it from Cingular (if I can get a deal) then cancel the contract.
