Compared to this, the iPhone is a toy

Gizmodo put up this very cool item on an experimental touchscreen that shows just where we might be going ... sooner than you think. Clearly, the iPhone touchscreen interface is very cool but what if there were an infinite number of points of contact? Jeff Hanbelieves that this new technology will dramatically change computing as we know it and after you see the video, I think you will agree. You can check out Gizmodo's post aboutExperimental Touchscreen Makes iPhone Look Like a Toyhere.

its funny how people keep dissing something that isnt even out yet, nor are pictures or any idea of the os or anything... its getting old... and theres still months of reading about how people think the iphone suck cause... when noone has picked one up besides two people at the ny tims and some select others... its not even done yet, as revisions and additions to the ui are in development before its release

this video shows a person talking about a user environment which apple had put a patent on months ago, and some aspects of it are, from what ive seen in some videos, built into the ui of the iphone

Didn't SUN make a java based operating system that was like 10 years ago, which was supposed to be the next generation of operating systems, but never came to reality. This feels like that. I really doubt that people will get the hang of these things. I mean it's nothing more than a multi-point-touch-sensing technology. For some reason I am not that impressed with where the technology is going. Instead of taking advantage of the super computers we have in our palms we are playing around with fingers and touch and all that, next thing you know virtual sex (Slap in the face, Total Recall!) So, as I was saying, my future of computing would be ability to simply turn on and off my computer with a touch, instead of waiting for loading screens, and limiting productivity. It is apparent that this is running totally off solid state storage.

Does anyone have a date on this video?

Good post.

Um...I guess that "toy" is one that will actually bring the multi-touch interface to a commercial application (aka Mac bringing Xerox Parc innovations to the masses). :rolling:

I also guess that that "toy" makes any "corporate" device look like it's from the stone age. :D
