Cingular Palm Treo 750 Day 3 - Battery issues or not?

Today, my Palm Treo 750 got one heck of a workout (again). This time she almost laid down on me before I got her home. The Treo 750 got to its home in the cradle at about 6pm and it was just in time. 2% battery life remaining.

From Palm's website, the Palm Treo 750 has the following battery specifications:
Removable 1200 mAH Lithium-ion
Talk time: up to 4 hours
Standby time: Up to 250 hours
Data preserved by persistent file system

That said, I really didn't experience battery woes, I actually experienced better than average life... Below are photos of 4 calls alone that got me close to the 4 hours talk time by themselves. There were a few other 15 minute calls and several 1-5 minute calls today. I spent a lot of time driving today, so it was easy to get lost in calls. With almost 3 hours of calls in just those 4 photos, I knew today was going to push the envelope.

All these are on top of data being sent constantly to the device. I received over 100 emails and replied to 15-20 of them today. With push mail, whenever the Exchange Server gets a new message, it pushes it out to my device. I have used the Treo 750 almost 500 minutes in 3 days so far. In the photos below, I show the timers. The one of the left is before I reset the calls over 1 week old and the one on the right shows the after. I have only had it since Monday so there were no old calls.

So far the Treo 750 is proving that it can be a workhorse device for the business professional (Which I am not claiming to be, but I do put some stress on my devices) With the weekend coming up, I will concentrate on some of the more entertaining aspects of the Treo 750. Next week we'll do some GPS testing.

Yeah, I find Direct Push helps me eat batteries sometimes.. I frequently get periods where I'm getting 10-20 emails within a 5-10 minute period, if not sooner.. And since I had the stock notification and vibrate set, it was really bad.. I did change the notification sound to something different, and thus a shorter vibrate, but haven't really noticed much of an improvement.

Bluetooth vs. battery life

I have the Treo 650 and have never had battery problems. But I certainly don't use mine to the extent that Chris does. But, I do keep bluetooth "on" all the time because my car - a 2004 Acura TL - has a great handsfree bluetooth interface which allows my phone to automatically "pair" with the handsfree link when in range. I can then use the controls on the steering wheel and the car stereo to make and receive calls. That's cool!

I'd be interested to hear how well the Treo 750 Bluetooth interface works and if there is any difference in it's battery life compared to the Treo 650.

Oh yea! that's right. Chris doesn't have a handsfree link in his Mustang. I guess he will have to send the Treo 750 to me so I can test it ;)
