Although I am not a big fan of Symbian or its virus prone works, I can't think of a smartphone without symbian. Apple totally missed out on the smartphone technology and has been crying about it. Just like "hey windows copied apple!". Apple is sad that they cannot say that about "smartphone" or any windows mobile/pda platform. Even if you go back to newton, which failed miserably, had to be shut down.
Symbian is great for cellphones, but I can't just think of it as a primary mini-pc replacement. You think about Nokia Communicator, that was the first true PC-like phone. Saint!?

Everyone wanted to get one, but due to limited quantity they couldn't move on with it, it is back, but very limited functionaly.
I just hope Blackberry improves (as they did with the trackball and even trade-mark it) and becomes the next true Smartphone platform after WM5 or WM6, arrow, bow, flamethrower or any other name they'd like to call it..or whatever we are supposed to see after Vista arrives.
