3GSM is a fantastic source for all sorts of breaking news in the mobile worlds, however in the feeding frenzy it's easy for some things to be left in a state of confusion Even if you happen to be the CEO

Take for example the statement by Hamid Akhavan, CEO of T-Mobile International AG & Co. KG, one of Europe's largest mobile phone operators. As reported by PCworld.com he isn't convinced that VOIP on mobile phones is a good idea. Which came as something of a suprise to me as T-Mobile is one of the only 2 networks in the UK (which is still part of Europe ;) ) offering VOIP.

He explained his position as

"There are all sorts of technical issues that make mobile VOIP services difficult to implement,"

But... with Web 'n walk max, you are trying to sell me the idea that it does work and you have managed to implement it. Look, here's the blurb from your own website

Get a monthly allowance to use for calls, texts, voicemail and picture messages to any UK network at any time. Plus unlimited* internet access, including Voice Over IP.

But then he went on to say

And then there's price: "When people talk about VOIP, they think free," Akhavan said. "With any mobile service provided over the Internet, you're going to need to buy a data package."

But it's only an extra £10 to add it to the web 'n walk plus...

So are you saying that I shouldn't give you the money? Or are you saying you don't want to take it?

Now admittedly they are in second place to 3mobile when it comes to VOIP tariffs, They've partnered with skype to allow VOIP goodness for only £5 on top of a standard tarriff as part of the X-Series. The downside with them is that instead of all the wm phones on t-mobile I'd have to use an N73 on Three, and the fact that the standard call rates are more expensive. So the two networks are pretty close on costs once you add in VOIP.

Personally I don't really use it a lot, All of my calls are within the UK and the standard bundle covers them, but if i was making a lot of international calls then I'd certainly drop my existing plan and move to T-Mobile or Three just for the savings.

(Unless of course MrHamid Akhavan really doesn't want me to)
