HP will not include Microsoft Outlook on the Getting Started CD

HP issued an advisory indicating that they will NO LONGER include Microsoft Outlook on the Getting Started CD after March 2007 for all the HP iPAQsthat are manufactured after March 2007. It would have been nice if they indicated why ...

RESOLUTION

Microsoft Outlook is not provided on the HP iPAQ Getting Started CD and must be purchased separately from Microsoft. Customers can go to office.microsoft.com and follow the on-screen instructions to purchase the available version of Microsoft Outlook.

I've never used the Outlook that is on the CD because I've always had it already installed on my computer, but I think this is not good. Can you even buy Outlook as a standalone package? Or do you have to buy Office to get it?

It seems HP is shooting themselves in the foot here.

I wonder if any other pocket pc OEMs are doing the same thing.....
