What is your choice when it comes to Voice Mail? Would you rather read it or listen to it? Well there is a NEWtechnology lets you read your voice mail and several companies are betting that you would rather read it than listen to it.

Marguerite Reardon, a Staff Writer at CNET News.com posted an interesting story on this new piece of technology. In part, Marguerite said:

Why listen to your voice mail messages when you can read them? That's what a new crop of companies is asking--they're developing software that turns voice mail messages into transcribed e-mail or text messages.

We've all gotten those long voice mail messages from a friend, relative, business associate--or in this reporter's case a PR person pitching a story idea--that seem to drag on forever. New companies, such as Simulscribe, SpinVox and now Callwave, are emerging to provide a fix for busy people who don't want to listen to long messages anymore.

Sounds like a very useful application!

It would be nice to scroll through a text of a message to get the phone number instead of listening with a pen in hand waiting to jot down the number.

Or when somewhere where there is alot of background noise.... not to have to go somewhere else to hear what is said in the message....

Yes I could use this!!
