Yahoo’s New Media Device - Sandisk Sansa Connect

When Engadget posted that Circuit City had these late last week, I rushed out and bought one. I had seen these at CES 2007 and since I love Yahoo Music, I had to get one. I didn't realize that I actually purchased this at Circuit City before it was announced. Well I purchased, unboxed, and did an initial walk-through all last week and today, it was announced.
It’s with great pride I announce the release of the SanDisk Sansa Connect, the new Wifi-enabled portable MP3 player set to free you from the USB cable chaining you to your PC, allowing you to listen to personalized radio, download music, share music with friends over Yahoo! Messenger, and view photos from Flickr, all direct over any Wifi network. Here are a few of the features not shared by either iPod or Zune:It’s pretty fresh if I do say so myself, but why trust me? Here’s what Engadget had to say after spending a day with the device.

I have been very impressed with the Sansa Connect and so have the 20 or so folks I have shown it to over the weekend.

If you want to listen to your own ripped (legal or stolen) music, you need to use their Jukebox software to build your library and sync. You can drop songs in a File Explorer onto a MicroSD card and pop it in as well. I haven't tested many other sources yet. I am content to listening to Yahoo's great Internet Radio streams and renting music for $11.99/mo ($14.99 if paid monthly). All my old Metallica CDs are ripped onto my hard drive in non-DRM MP3 format, so I can just sync those onto my device. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I am trying to keep up with questions on the Youtube video comment threads too. Source : Yahoo Music Blog via TechCrunch

Apparently, they did what Zune couldn't but why the price is so high for 4GB of space? I would much rather have this on my cellphone than a standalone player that costs this much.

Very nice smooth interface, but the price is a killer.. Will hear too many "buy ipod instead".. :(
"added to my rating" her here is my ballpoint pen! :)
