Somo 650, Corporate Axim Replacement?

It's either a case of 'Nature abhors a vacuum" or "when one door closes another opens" but either way the classic PDA isn't dead. With Dell stepping out of the market there is a business niche that Socket hopes to fill.

Here's some specs that may seem familiar to Axim users on the Somo 650

Intel PXA270 @ 624 MHz
Windows Mobile 5
CF and SD slots
128m Ram
235mb of flash
Wifi/BT
1100/2200 battery

Ok theres no VGA but it does come in a rugged casing and you can buy one for the next 3-5 years... and there's going to be a full set of corporate management tools, to allow you to roll out as many of these as you like.

Looks like it has possibilities though!

No VGA = not Axim-v.

I wish life was this simple...

No VGA for 400 BP ($800), yeah right!

It looks close, but not for that price. I am not too sure I would give up VGA, but NEVER for that kind of money. If it lowers it's price and comes out with a VGA model, then I would be interested - of course only when my X51v dies. Long live Axims.

Correction. 400 BP, but on Pocketpcblast says that is is going to be sold for $648. That is getting closer, but I bought the X51v (a better PDA) for $345.

It looks like I'll have to wait - till the price drops.

Even with no VGA, it would be the closest device on the market to the Axim. I sure wouldn't pay that kind of money either. I LOVE my Axim!

I certainly wouldn't spend that kind of money on 'one' of them.. but if I was buying 50+ devices I'd probably take it over the x51v (assuming I could buy the axims) even allowing for the price difference. Although I would leave it at work and take the axim home with me...
