The rollout is starting: albeit early ....

Well there is good news (we think) that is appearing on the horizon with the Apple iPhone. In some footage shot at West Texas A&M,AT&T's Stan Sigman gifts an iPhone to WTAMU president Dr. J. Patrick O'Brien with what appears to be the "first iPhone in Texas". There is a video here atThe Unofficial Apple Weblogthat shows the commencement exercises and you can hear the gifting (athough it is rough on inteligibility). The next piece of good news is apparantly Steve Jobs is consideringopening up the iPhone to 3rd partyapplications. In a story posted here at The Unofficial Apple Weblog,Steve Jobshas indicatedthat Apple is wrestling with the decision, according to Tech.co.uk. So we can see that the first first "regulation" iPhone has been given out by AT&T which means (to me at least) that the rollout is fast approaching and more importantly, it appears as if Jobs might well be thinking seriously about opening up the platform to 3rd party developers. From the beginning, we have said that without out 3rd party developers in the "mix" to create applications for people to "personalize" their device to fit their needs, the device would not succeed in the "business" market ... it looks like that might change and if it does thisjust mightbe a "cool toy" we all might want to try. Click the links above ... you will find them interesting. via Engadget Mobile

I doubt I will be getting one, but I look forward to hearing what those who do, think about it :) It sounds like many people are anxiously waiting its release.
