Us! Aximsite.com is getting close to turning ONE! I hearby annouce Aximsite's official Birthday as DECEMBER 15th! WE had a weird but FAST start here. We went through 6 or so layouts in the 1st few months. We used Invision Power Board until Feb 14, 2003, when we finally moved to VBulletin and things have basicly been the same ever since.
I registered the domain Aximsite.com back December 14th, 2002. I had already built the site and in no time I had the original Aximsite online and people coming from the Dell forums on the 15th. Sometime between then and Dec 22nd, 2002 we had a server crash and had to start over. One December 22nd I spent many hours getting it all back together and posted this MESSAGE at 10pm that day.
The site grew like a wild fire and before long, I went to paying $10 a month for hosting to $99 and then by March $400. The site kept growing and growing and here we are almost a year later with almost 34,000 members. ( I deleted 4,000 inactive members a few months ago too) I want to recognize the oldest "Active" member, Cheryl! She is member number 13 !
Like I said, we went through some fun changes and many different layouts before I decided that we need to stick with something. When I converted the site to vBulletin on Feb 14, 2000, This layout was put to work and has not changed much since.
Come back soon to see what kind of week we have in store for the Birthday. We are working on getting a real nice contest together for this event !

For all this to happen a few things had to happen:
#1 - Dell, even though the CS stinks, them getting into the PPC ring made all of this possible. In fact their CS (no offense guys), made the site even more popular....
#2 - Me get off my tuff and build it...
#3 - All of you to come here...
#4 - You all to like it enough to hang around...
#5 - Our Moderators. They were both helpful and smart. They made me shine. Thanks to them and all of you !!!
#6 - Our advertisers. Go ahead thank them to, CLICK a LINK... The advertisers make this site 100% free for all of you !

I bought my first X5 in January '03, and at that time I was fishing for a forum to hang out in. First I went to pocketpccity.com's forums, but then I started checking out other forums to see thread and member counts, and at that time--mid-January 2003--dale coffing's pocketpcpassion.com actually had the most of everything.
i saw aximsite but it just seemed much smaller, and frankly a little obnoxious for basically declaring itself the axim website/forum.
The axim board at ppcpassion doesnt seem to have changed much, but there is only one axim board after all, and traffic is pathetic in comparison to aximsite, and may have gotten worse since people like me left....it also annoyed me because wth all the pictures of PPCs around the site, the axim was nowhere to be seen.
In June I moved back to school for summer classes and for some reason--actually i believe i was fishing for info on SD cards because i was caught up in the sandisk thread on the dell forums--I dropped by aximsite and discovered it had overtaken ppcpassion considerably. I also noticed the highest post counts i had ever seen; not just high ones but a lot of them. the average member seemed to have about double the number of posts as people at ppcpassion.
so i started posting on memory threads, then eventually got caught up in everything and for quite a while during the summer and some weeks recently i basically lived on the site, checking up every few hours. what was more remarkable than the fact that i did this was the fact that I could do it because new posts are literally added every few minutes 18-24 hours a day.
and now i have passed the 1k mark myself. an accomplishment, i guess, though i really wonder what else i could have done with all that time.
i must say it sure has had some payoffs--Aximsite gave me a free sena case through one of the contests, and i've gotten in on some tight deals from the bargain threads and classifieds.
and about customer service....honestly aximsite is the first place to go for any axim-related issues you might have. there are just so many darn people on this website that somebody out there has already gone and figured out what to do, and half the time you read about people calling dell and they know less than the people here. the only reason i would call dell would be to adjust an order, get a replacement, or tackle some really obscure technical issue and pray that i get a tech who knows stuff they dont put in the manual.
aximsite has also made my axim more worthwhile. links to free downloads, suggestions from members about apps, games, hardware, accessories....information about usage, battery life, ....honestly i could be here all night trying to describe how much i get out of this site.
much thanks indeed to Chris, the mods, the writers, the reviewers, the rest of the staff and of course the rest of the membership. Happy b-day, axsite.
I am new to pocket PC’s and received my axim about 1 month ago I have had a few teething problems and even had to have a replacement unit but thanks to axim site all my questions were answered just by looking at the posts.
I am a computer analyst so I appreciate the professionalism and technical knowledge of the people involved in the posts it is the best pocket PC web site I have come across.
Happy Birthday aximsite.comd now (last year) I was checking Dell's site searching (hoping/waiting) for my Ax to ship; then finally on Dec 22nd...IT CAME!!!!! (for wahtever reason it took me a while to find this place ;(...February
i remember the early layouts and thinking "what will it look like today" when coming here. certainly have enjoyed the site and my ax. great job on building a super community! :yeah:

I remember that I was very hesitant to join back then when I first received my Axim around then. After looking around and getting helpful hints on what, and what not, to do... I finally joined and started giving my 2 cents and still getting tid bits of info. Now Look where I am. THANK YOU, Chris for building this site. And THANK YOU everyone for making this site happen.:yeah:
