MS Portrait 2.2 Released (Now Has Full Duplex on PPC)

Version 2.2 has been released. Both PC and PPC versions are compatible with the latest version of .NET Messenger Service. The PC version supports Microsoft Live Communications Server 2003 and other SIP servers. The PPC version supports full-duplex voice on Pocket PC 2003 and Smartphone 2003.

Just installed M$ Portrait Ver. 2.2 on my Axim X5 Basic.

Pretty cool app, especially when using my CF wifi card (Netgear MA701).

However, the full duplex audio option doesn't seem to work in this new version of M$ Portrait, even when I intentionally select it. I still have to operate the audio in "walkie-talkie" mode (half duplex).

Anybody yet able to get M$ Portrait Ver. 2.2 to work properly for full duplex (i.e. hands-free) audio?

Someday, I'm hoping to do full-fledged videoconferencing via wifi with my Axim (presently can only receive video wirelessly). Anyone think this will ever be possible (CF videocam + USB wifi interface via the bottom connector, or vice versa?)???

See post from earlier today:

(I had similar problem with the audio, full duplex worked when transmitting voice from Axim, but could only receive audio when set to half duplex)

still a great app though...

In Portrait go to:
Tools->
Options

Then under the Audio tab, there is an option:
"Select Preferred manner for audio recording"

My axim had the "Press to Talk" selected by default. So if you switch that over to the "Click to Talk" you won't have to use it like a walkie talkie anymore.

I've tested it with two X5 using Asus wifi cf without any problems.

This is too cool!
Now if there were hotspots aplenty I'd be set.

I'm stunned to get a free app from Micro$oft.

Thanks gdub! The "Click to Talk" option did the trick to allow hands-free full duplex.

Now, for my wireless videoconferencing aspirations, I will just have to hope that the CF USB host that Twin-Paradox plans to offer soon ( http://www.twin-paradox.com/SEPDA.html , see other posts here on Aximsite ) will offer PPC drivers that support USB webcams as well as USB wifi adapters....
