I am a CPA and keeping time with programs, like Timeslips is great, if you are tied to your desktop computer. Having a timekeeping program that I can carry around with me, on my Ax 5 advanced, my just provide the missing link.
This software would be great for me because I am a university student and currently working for a large IT consulting firm. This way I would be more able to keep track of the amount of food, gas, clothes, shoes I buy and the amount of time i spend really doing nothing... and all other great stuff on their account. Not because I need the money back... But because I would really like to see how much I am costing them... Why do they give me a company credit card? lol :D
shhh don't tell them..
(Really I am not ripping them off, I am more then positive they are charging all these things to their clients... :crooked: )
I have this new Axim X5
Resulting in a forceful drive
To do everything with this new Pocket PC
So I can rationalize this purchase - you see.
I figure I can track my expenses and miles
Instead of putting receipts in piles
As a forensic document examiner, I testify in trials
and for each of them I could have a file.
I hate writing in that stupid book in my car
Whenever I travel near or far
But any escuse to open the Axim and grab that stylus
Becomes a pleasure instead of a fuss.
Billrate would make drudgery into pleasure
and enrich daily chores beyone measure
The only thing that could make it better
would be winning it in this contest by writing this letter.
I work in and administer youth programs in a fairly large area. I am constantly moving from one location to another and could definetely use the mileage features as well as using the time tracking features to more accurately figure how much time i'm putting into the various projects I'm working on.
I've been waiting for something like this to enter the market. I've needed this for quite some time. I run a network consulting business, on the side, and my travel is extreme. I currently use the mileage spreadsheet that comes with PPC2002 and type in on notes my expenses and time for each customer and saving as individual files on my Axim X5. I thought I had everything one time and have overbilled and underbilled customers many of times. Doesn't make for good business - so even if I might not win one - I'll definitely purchase.
Thanks Two Peaks for something that I've needed for over 18 months now.
I am an attorney, and I currently keep my time on post-it notes. As you can imagine, they end up piling up at the end of the month!! This application would simplify my life by permitting me to maintain my track entries in one place!! Please help me to get rid of my post-it nightmare!!!
Why? That is easy. We purchased 2 x3i' s to do EVERYTHING this program will do.
We use a billing/scheduling program in our office (a Physica Therapy Practice: we treat children and contract with schools and state agencies to work with children with developmental and orthopedic disabilities - hard work, but very rewarding!!) Anyway, our software vendor said (prior to purchase) "sure it should work on a PDA, you just need enough memory (so we bought 256MB SD cards for both!) the Program uses about 150MB. Long story short - IT DID NOT WORK! :-(
We are constantly on the go and to be abot to do scheduling, track mileage, track billing and enter our notes is what we got the PDA's for in the first place. (Our Chief Therapist has recently been disabled due to an injury and we had opted for the PDA over a laptop for so she could continue to manage it (weight and size).
I hope you pick us, The benefit would reach to many children that we serve!
Thanks!!
I am a software developer for a company that uses Oracle Time for time tracking. I normally keep my time in a ledger or spreadsheet somewhere and then enter it into Oracle Time once a week.
I am trying to use another time software application on my Axim that is let’s say, less than adequate. In addition, the developer of the program seems less than responsive to making changes and/or updates. Even suggestions to make the program better are taken with a grain of salt if the email is answered at all.
I have found Two Peaks Software very responsive to emails and very much appreciative of feedback on any of their applications. I admire these qualities in a company since I try to instill them on my developers as well. It’s for these reasons that I would like to have a copy of this software. To become more productive and less of a slave to the system (Oracle Time).
I have been searching for this program since I bought my Axim. As an architect, I could use this program without any question for tracking projects. At my side job of web and graphic design, the tracking would be invaluable. I shouldn't have to become an accountant just to keep my records straight, and Billrate looks like it will keep me from adding yet another profession to the list of things I will do for money.
I have tried and bought several programs in this class only to find that they really did not meet my needs or were so slow that they were not useable. I have tried Billrate and it is by far the best in the class. I use it to track suport calls to our clinets and out techs who call me for support.
As with many of the other entrants, I am a professional consultant struggling with the never-ending chore of tracking my billable hours, expenses, and mileage.
I have used the following "solutions" ineffectively:
1. My brain - Inconsistent writing and reading to and from memory.
2. Pieces of paper - Easily lost, usually hard to read.
3. Single notepad - Centralized data, but still hard to read and difficult to back up.
4. Text files on PC - Easier to read and backup, but not easy to apply simple math.
5. Spreadsheet - Can do simple math, but difficult to view data grouped by date, clients, projects, etc.
6. Database - Solves all of the above issues, but the interface is clumsy and requires a PC which isn't always easily accessible.
As you can see, there is a natural evolution. BillRate is the natural progression and possibly the most complete and advanced form of a solution to date.
It will help me accurately account for my time, expenses and mileage; Organize and view the data in different terms - by client, by project, billable vs. non-billable, summary, amount earned, due, paid, etc. It is easy to use no matter where I'm at, since it runs on my brand new Axim X3i handheld. It is easy to backup since it comes with a desktop edition that it synchronizes with. The interface makes the task effortless. It is very intuitive and designed by consultants, like me, who know exactly what I need in a software application like this.
The reason I got the X3i was to make my life easier, and this software will go a long way in helping me realize this goal... Can't wait!
I started a computer consulting service in June of 2003. I have been keeping "home made" Excel spreadsheets to document mileage and Customer data. When I was on the road, I was forced to keep numbers and information on sheets of paper, napkins or McDonalds wrappers. I decided that it was time to get a Pocket PC and finally bought one. My Axim X3i came in a couple of weeks ago.
New year, new methods. Now, with the use of my Ax, I am in the process of transitioning the "manual" documentation system to electronic format. This program sounds like the perfect fit.
I have been shopping around for a PPC program that would allow me to record client info as well as mileage and expenses that can ultimately go onto my home computer. This application is exctly what I have been looking for.
Bottom line, if I win the software....I will "preach the gospel" of Bill Rate to everyone I meet!
