HERE IS HOW TO GET THE "DING" BACK AFTER YOU HAVE UPGRADED, OR FOR ANY REASON

Quote:
No "ding" sound after soft reset
Here is a simple way to get the "ding" back, ok:
1: open file explorer
2: Go to the Windows Folder, then find "Recording 2" and copy it
3: Then go back up to the top (while still in the Windows Folder) and find the folder STARTUP (not Start menu), and paste it in that folder.
Now it will play that "ding" everytime you soft-reset your Dell

PS-You can put any recording in the start up folder, hey you can have your own voice greet you when you soft-reset your device,
:D

I did a hard reset to get rid of this mod as well...hated the fact that it didn't uninstall properly.

IMHO proceed with caution, and think twice about "fixing" what "isn't broken" (i.e. if your Ax sound was ok, maybe you should leave it alone (or wait for the next patch))

Wouldn't it be great if we could all install a patch and find it worked just like it said it would!

Wow....just saw a pig flying by!

Lucky enough for me, when I try to apply the patch, I found my cradle is not connected. Otherwise I have to worry about how to de-install.... Thanks a bunch, guys, for sharing whatever experience you have met.

Like you guys I am having a problem with the patch. After a undetermained amount of time the audio seems to disapear. Not just any audio but all audio. NOW HERE IS SOMETHING REALLY WIEEERRDDD. I run an older verion of routis Navigator. Now with the patch installed the audio is not muted but totally delayed. What I mean by this is in the upper left corner there where it shows the direction of your next move and distance. Before I installed the patch it would repeat the next directions. After the patch it is almost like the audio is on pause and clicking that icon unpauses it. It will run threw all the past audio commands thats it should have said live. However it doesnt say it live only when I click on that ICON.

RE: Routis

I just purchased the Deluo GPS and Routis 2004 navigation software on my Axim with WM2K3 and I noticed the same problem. Not only will the volume significantly drop (to the point where I have to hook the Axim to my car stereo to be able to listen to it), but the turn commands are paused as well. :realmad: I feel like I have to keep on tapping the screen just to get the next command. I did notice that the volume problem corrects itself when you turn the Axim off and on but the problem soon returns. I installed the patch prior to installing the GPS and didn't have any issues. Is this a patch problem, a Routis problem, or a conflict between the 2?

I have posted a message on the tech forum for the deluos product board. I am waiting to hear back from them. One solution (not tested however) is a hard reset. I dont know for sure that this will uninstall the drivers. It seems to be some sort of confict. however I dont have another GPS to or map program to test with it. However the audio droping out is with more then just the routis software which leads me to think its more of a driver issue. Also the fact that I have had routis running fine for over a year now until I installed that driver. I dont know why this problem is accouring but I am hoping to get an answer back from tech support soon.

Just my 2 cents - this "update" addresses very minor issues regarding the axim x5 sound system. The real problems with axim sound (pathetic bass and treble) seem to be hardware limited. Hell, compared with my old ipaq 3650 the axim sounds very disappointing. That being said, the ONLY good thing about the 3650 was the sound, it sucked miserably every other way. I bought the axim for its reliability and i have never looked back - a quality sound system would have been nice, but worth the extra $120 (ipaq 2215) - not!

The iPAQ H3650 wasn't that bad of a device. It runs Linux well and the IR port kicks the X5's ass, but that's not to say I'd trade my X5 for one.

Are you using Deluo Routis? I'm having the same problems.

yes this was with the routis software. The only way to fix it back to its orginal state is to hard reset
