BugMe! Named by FoxPop as an "Application of the Year" for PDA Users

FoxPop, one of the UK's leading resources for information on mobile computing, has selected BugMe! Comics Edition as one of its 2003 Applications of the Year. The article can be viewed online at http://www.foxpop.co.uk/thirdparty/a...ETH%20LIDDELL.

BugMe! has been a commercial success in the handheld computing industry, enabling users to quickly and easily handwrite notes or sketches directly on the screens of their handhelds and set reminder alarms. By offering BugMe! NotePack stationery templates to BugMe! users, Electric Pocket has further extended the useful nature of BugMe!. BugMe! Comics is a series of humorous message packs and features popular comic strip characters such as Garfield, Bizarro, Cathy and Ziggy. Examples from the Comic Notes collection include a "To Do" stationery template featuring the image of the popular Cathy character with her trademark pile of paper on her desk, and an "It's Time" reminder note featuring a sleepy Garfield taking his frustration on a dreaded alarm clock.

Elisabeth Liddell, the FoxPop reviewer who awarded BugMe! as her choice for Application of the Year, tested the Pocket PC version which works very similarly to the Palm OS and Symbian versions. "I use the program for anything that needs an alarm, from timing cooking to reminders to set a TV program to meeting reminders," said Ms. Liddell. "And I also use it often as a simple note-taking facility - there is no need to set an alarm at all. This makes the program even closer to the Post-It note!"

I was not impressed, but it may have been my machine. I have an Axim advanced and when I tried the demo it was painfully slow to load or accept any changes. Has anybody else tried this with better luck? I did have it installed on my SD card so that might have affected it. But then again I run lots of programs from the SD card and they don't run this slow. I'm currently using Visual IT's The Pad ver 2 and it runs much faster. Although it does not have alarms or some of the other features of Bug Me, it is much faster and does everything that I need.
