If Dell decides to offer an update CD for the X5, do you think it will be compatible with the Basic X5? Thanks!

It's hard to say. While I want to say that anything they release for the X5 will be released for the Basic model, the Basic is no longer sold, while the Advanced is. So it is iffy whether the X5 will get it at all, and even more iffy whether the X5 Basic will get it

I'm guessing they will do it for X5 Advanced, because they have brought them back to the market, but i'm wondering if that upgrade will work with X5 Basic too. PLEASE! Dell are you listening??

The X5 Adv, and basic CPU's are pretty much the same thing. Just one is faster then the other. They are both Xscale processors. What may be required is the PXA-255 CPUl, if anything.

Just my 2 cents.

I really do not care. It seems almost everything is for VGA, since my axim is not VGA, it is not big deal to me. Though I would get it if it was free, or cheap.

Dell doesn't sell the basic anymore.

The difference is also in the memory space which might be an issue.

I think Dell will support the X5...they went through the trouble of re-releasing the X5 again...

Yea, good point segadc. And cageyjames also brought up a good point, my basic MIGHT not have enough memory, but I think I can squeeze it in! :HOPEFULLY:

IMO BIS capacity is the only issue, and possibly the CPU version, as geek65536 mentioned. If the upgrade works on the advanced and only takes up less than, say, 3 or 4MB, then the upgrade should certainly work on the X5 basic.

Figures. It was about this time when someone got to preview PPC2003 original.

I do not see why Microsoft would release something that takes up half of most handhelds built in RAM. That makes very little sense to me. But then again we are dealing with Microsoft...

Well no word on Dell yet, but it appears that the Toshiba 750 isn't going to be getting the upgrade. I can only hope that this doesn't affect us Axim users and is just Toshiba being Toshiba.
