For beta-testers of Burgerama: the second beta-version.
Hi! This is Ballshooter Games and Burgerama again:) We need your help with our second version of this game.
If you don't remember Burgerama please have a look at this forum:
http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showt...threadid=31790
We made many changes in Burgerama and your opinion is very interesting for us.
Here you can download the second beta-version:
www.ballshooter.com/files/files/burgerama86.exe
And to make this testing more easier and faster we prepared some questions for you:
1. Is it clear how to play?
2. Have you read the tutorial?
3. Does tutorial help to understand how to play this game?
4. Do you like music?
5. Do you like sound effects?
6. Does the difficulty of the levels rise smooth from level to level?
7. Did you find the rush orders?
8. Do you think rush orders should be different on each level?
9. Is it interesting to play this game?
10. How long time were you passing the first level? Was it boring?
11. Do you need hints while playing the first level?
12. Did you find something unusual or silly in this game?
13. What can you propose to make this game more interesting?
Thank you in advance for your help and we are looking forward to hearing from you soon!

1. At first I was a little confused with the picture showing what shape you had to form. I thought it looked like french fries and that was the bonus you were trying to get. I think you need to change the little icons to look less like food.
2/3. The tutorial is clear on how to play. There is one section that states you can change the menu by tapping on it. That's not quite true. You only can do this when the bonus is up. That should be clarified.
6. This version only was a demo version and went to 3 levels. I thought the third level was a big jump when it came to the bonuses. This seemed very difficult and I just stuck to the regular form on 4 in a row.
7. Yes, I did find the rush orders
8. Yes
9. Yes.
10. It took me about 2 minutes. No, it wasn't boring.
11. Not necessary.
12. Can't tell with three levels.
13. Lots of levels.

When I click on food, my backlight gets brighter, when I click in a square it goes back to my default level of brightness.
I have an IPAQ 2210.

Much improved
I really enjoyed playing the original tester version of Burgerama. While this version has the same look and feel, there are noticeable improvements.
I think the cash register progress bar is much easier to read and understand than were the original three lights.
The text explaining the pattern to be formed is a nice touch. Personally, I didn't feel that it was needed because in my mind, seeing a 2x2 square of objects doesn't need to be described as a '2x2 square'. But it's wrong to assume that everyone would be able to jump to such conclusions.
It's good that the tutorial shows the pattern being formed by foods that are not the ones shown in the "order". Also, the pattern is rotated to show that the order does not have to be completed in the same orientation.
But since I'm always proof-reading and looking for ways to explain things, I have noticed a few things in the tutorial that could use a little tweaking:
On the 2nd page, remove the words "from your".
On the 6th page, replace "cash driver" with "cash drawer".
On the 6th page, change "symbolize" to "symbolizes".
On the 6th page, the last sentence is awkward. It's almost unnecessary. But if you are going to keep it, change the word “fill” to “filled”.
I think it is unrealistic to expect that everyone would be able to read the tutorial once and be an expert. Therefore, there will always people who report that something wasn’t explained correctly. Any of these confusions will quickly fall away after they play the game a few times. Besides, you wouldn’t want them to master the game too quickly. That just wouldn’t be much fun.
My final impression is that this is a game I would play. I think it's fun, challenging, and it makes me think.

I downloaded the second beta, and I prefer the sounds on this version much better. The game was much faster and more enjoyable, but it stops at level 3, which doesn't give us much of a chance to test the version. Is this meant to be limited beta?
I agree with the changes above for the instructions.

1. The game was very clear how to play. The game is reminiscent of Popcap's Atomica.
2/3. Yes I read the tutorial very helpful in the more advanced aspects of the game.
4. I thought the music was pretty good. A helpful hint would be to have a sound volume adjuster.
5. I really enjoyed the sound effects, but in #4 it also needs volume adjusting.
6. I found the difficulty of the levels was mostly smooth with a few gaps
7. Yes! They made the game addictive. :)
8. Yes
9. Yes
10. The first level took me about three minutes to complete. It was not boring.
11. No the first level was pretty easy.
12. I liked the Mcdonald's type logo on the sign.
13. I would like to have more sound tracks in the final version
I really like your game. Keep up the good work.:D

Bugerama
1. Is it clear how to play?
Not at first. I was focused on the food in the pattern, not the pattern itself. It wasn't till I moved a different food than those in the pattern by accident did I realize what to do.
2. Have you read the tutorial?
Yes
3. Does tutorial help to understand how to play this game?
Somewhat. See 1.
4. Do you like music?
OK, I play mostly with sound off.
5. Do you like sound effects?
See 4.
6. Does the difficulty of the levels rise smooth from level to level?
Yes, till timeout.
7. Did you find the rush orders?
Yes, but didn't work for me, or I missunderstood.
8. Do you think rush orders should be different on each level?
Yes.
9. Is it interesting to play this game?
Yes.
10. How long time were you passing the first level? Was it boring?
3 Minutes, Not boring.
11. Do you need hints while playing the first level?
No.
12. Did you find something unusual or silly in this game?
No.
13. What can you propose to make this game more interesting?
Clarify pattern match, not food in pattern.

Burgerama Beta testing results
This version is greatly improved from the first version!
1. The rules are clear, but additional information in how to play the game needs to be added. Tips for getting started would greatly help new players. Especially people who were not used to playing games.
2. Yes
3. Definitely, but more information needs to be added. (See #1)
Page 3 need's to be refined more. I think the display where the pattern is shown should have a name like " the Order Board" or
"Menu Board" , etc. and an arrow going from the highlighted
food items to the pattern display area.
4. I like the music and the differents effects when changing to new levels.
5. I liked the sound effects except for the sound that's made when a food group match was completed. It sounded scratchy
and loud on my pda. Definitely needs to be adjusted.
6. The levels changed pretty smoothly, but hard to tell with only being able to access three.
7. Yes, I found the rush orders. Adding a tip that the order must
be completed as shown would be helpful.
8. Yes, I think they should be easy on the first levels and get progressively harder on each new level.
9. Its a lot of fun to play, but with only having access to three
levels it's hard to judge.
10. It took about a minute and a half to pass the first level. It's fun and leaves wondering what the next level will hold.
11. When your first starting out, hints on how to play the game
would be definitely helpful.
12. I found the game to be unusual in a good way in that it is differentfrom the run of the mill games that are out there.
Different is good!
13. Maybe after a level is completed, the game would go to a
bonus round where the player could raise his rank or wages to
higher level by how much is scored in the bonus round. Or could
raise the rank to regional director on up to CEO of Burgerama.
14. $9.95 unless it has more added to it by final version. It really
hard to judge the game with only the three access levels.

Sound? Never noticed that before
Because I use my PPC in public and professional settings on a daily basis, I long-ago turned the sound completely off. I've simply gotten used to working in silence. Also, I don't want to be "one of those people" who's clicking and beeping is sited as the cause of the madman's shooting spree.
Anyway, I was wondering what you all were talking about with the music and the sound. After wondering if my sound was busted, I rememebred to turn the volume up and HEY! :D That really does make a difference, doesn't it?
The music and sounds of Burgerama are cute and borderline infectious. I found myself singing the music as I was walking around. It really does make the game more fun. Wow, it was like watching TV in black and white and suddenly being presented with color.
I also want to humbly say 'thanks' for the nod in the credits. Totally blew me away. Now I HAVE to buy a copy if only to show all my friends.

I find the game to be infectious, to both myself and others. As soon as someone hears the music, they come running over. The game moves along at a fast pace, and keeps my interest. The only problem beta testing is that there is only three levels to test. Hard to get the full impact of a game with the end being at three levels.

Questions on Burgerama beta-version
1. Is it clear how to play?
It may not be initially clear to everyone how the game plays because it does use some unique variations from the basic Lines-type game, but I think if they use the tutorial, it will be clear to them.
2. Have you read the tutorial?
Yes, it could use some tweaking so that the English sounds more correct.
3. Does tutorial help to understand how to play this game?
Yes, it explains the unique aspects of the game very well.
4. Do you like music?
The music seemed fine, but I usually turn game music off after the first few minutes because it is so repetitive.
5. Do you like sound effects?
The sound effects seemed to be very crackly. Almost as if they were recorded from a very poor source or at a low KHz range.
6. Does the difficulty of the levels rise smooth from level to level?
Not sure. Was able to play upto level 5 & then I ran into trouble keeping the board clear enough to make matches. Didn't have that much of an issue until then.
7. Did you find the rush orders?
Yes, I made them on each level that I played.
8. Do you think rush orders should be different on each level?
I think there were some variations that were different as I went to level 5. Don't think you need to have a lot of different ones, but an occasional new one every couple levels would add variety.
9. Is it interesting to play this game?
Within the bounds of a Line game with some unique variations, I'd say yes.
10. How long time were you passing the first level? Was it boring?
I didn't really time the first level, but I didn't feel it was overly long or boring.
11. Do you need hints while playing the first level?
No
12. Did you find something unusual or silly in this game?
No, I like the way that you put the game into the fast-food realm. It looks like a pretty clever scenario.
13. What can you propose to make this game more interesting?
Better quality sound effects & cleaning up some of the English verbiage.
Regards,
Mike Wake
