Pocket PC Cruise?

How about a Pocket PC Cruise?

Remember a couple weeks ago when I put out a feeler for a social event of some sort? No, oh well, here is the link. (LINK) Well, this idea is great, but it really is not materializing very well. I have run into a couple brickwalls. I am not ditching the idea, but putting it on hold.

Now there is another idea floating around. It is an idea of a Pocket PC Cruise. Now I love this idea. You need a vacation anyway, take a cruise and talk PPC with us? I really dig this idea that Steven over at Silicon Valley Pocket PC has come up with.

The tenative info is at Pocket PC Cruises.com. Why don't you give it a look and come back here and lets discuss this idea. I am willing to give my 100% support to making his idea successful. Would this be something you would consider.

Vendors and manufacturers, we will need your support too. Contact me to find out how!

That sounds like a great idea but I won't be able to make it. I'm bummed out too, because I love the salsa that you get in Mexico....mmmmm. Along with a cold Corona.

Well, I love the idea of a cruise; I've been on 2 myself.

But, you would have to count me out. The price, and distance factor are big negatives for me.

So, I voted no.

Yea, I'm with dudeman. I love cruises, but I don't have the money, I just went on a vacation! Sorry!

Yeah. Lucky for me, I was planning a Honeymoon cruise this fall already. Been married 13 years and really never "taken" a honeymoon. My wife and I have lived in some vaction spots while I was in the Navy and never really needed to get away.

I had to vote no also, although it sounds like a great time. I love the salsa in Mexico along with a cold Corona  ...mmmm :p

I was looking forward to a weekend in Atlanta without my wife ;) and now you have to pick a place that she'd never let me go without her. :)

Oh well I hope it works out and I'm sure everyone who is able to make the trip will have a blast. I can't wait to see all the pics.

It does sound fun, but the cost and time away would be a major factor.

Also, I don't like the idea that a cruise ship can just put you out somewhere and tell you to find your own way home. :):crooked:

Pocket PC Cruise

Well, the cruise was my idea, and I hadn't gotten a lot of positive response. However, Chris asked me if I was still interested, so I thought I'd try to revive the idea.

If you have any questions about the cruise, please ask them in the thread at pocketnow. While I'll certainly answer any questions here, I'd prefer to answer them in just one place. :)

Also, for the people who think it's too expensive or too far, I'd be interested in hearing about where you would rather leave from. I could equally well do something from California to Mexico (although that would probably be Ensenada).

Steve

It's not that it doesn't sound fun, I just can't justify spending over $415-ish(cha-ching$) (+) airfare(cha-ching$) (+) ground transportation/tips(cha-ching$). It wouldn't matter where the cruise takes place....not unless, of course, if anyone is up to sailing the Great Lakes :)

I don't want to crap on the cruise idea but,the original idea expressed on this site where we fly into town, meet, fly back home was/is do-able.

I think I read somewhere that PDAs and water don't mix :)

Yes, usually, water and PDAs don't like each other, but what Chris didn't mention is that included with the price is one of these:

No, not really.

I do not want anyone to think that I am abandoning the Pocket PC Social (Pocketpalooza or Pocket Con...hehe), but I think that if you wanted to take a cruise or have a vacation anyway, this may be a great idea. (I was planning on cruising the same timeframe anyhow)
