Cool

PocketWeather V1.00.03 has been released.

Changes in V1.00.03 are as follows:
* Added support for zooming, panning, and making the images display in landscape mode
* Temperature compare view now remembers the colour compare setting
* Removed unused code from detailed view (weatherpop.exe), reducing the executable size by some 100k!
* Added option to clear the weather data cache on the "Maps" tab of settings
* Removed a memory leak in the font handling
* In weather detailed view, could not get to settings - fixed
* Renamed "Last Updated" with "Last Refresh"

This is a really great utility so far! Works great on everything except my 2215. I installed on the SD card. The "remove programs" box got hung up on the screen so I did a soft reset. Now my device won't go past the HP loading screen. Guess I'm gonna have to hard reset . Thank God for Sprite Backup.

I had something similar happen to me when I initially installed to SD card - two things to try:

- competely unistall (with explorer make sure that all PW folders are deleted) - I didn't have to edit the registry.

- are you using CabInstl on your 2215? When I installed PW into some subfolders on my SD card using CabInstl my 2210 hung. However, when I just chose, "None" and "SD Card" my installation and running has caused no problems :approve:

(I can't tell if you are using CabInstl as you MyPDA doesn't say )

Hi Rob - welcome home :D

I'm not using cab install. I just downloaded the demo and installed to my SD card via ActiveSync. I did a hard reset and am in the process of restoring now. Guess I won't install to the SD card next time. Though it works fine on the SD card in my Toshiba. I wonder what the deal is?

Thanks for the welcome back. (I had a great time).

With regard to your problem I don't know then - you could try using CabInstl - see if that works.

Also before reinstalling just make sure the prior version is completely uninstalled, as above (I think part of my problem was that I had the remnants of an older version that I had installed in main memory left on my machine and when I uninstalled and deleted directories and then reinstalled this fixed the issue).

Also Adrian (the developer) over at SBSH is almost as responsive as Amit so if none of the above work post a message there and I am sure he will help you out.

I've posted on the SBSH forums. From what I've seen, these guys are quite responsive so I'm not worried :). Gonna try to install to main memory and see what happens. *crosses fingers*

Hi Cheryl :)

I'm not managing the PocketWeather project but PocketBreeze, but I can say that the installer is not part of our code just something we use MS code to install our software. Sometimes, I really have no clue why, this installer hangs on the "writing information..." stage; This is something I also noticed with other software too and I still have no clue why this happens sometimes and other times it is working ok but it is pretty rare.

My suggestions will be to try and install it again, I'm pretty sure it will be fine, and it might be better to first try on the main memory, just to be sure and eliminate other possible problems :approve:

Keep us updated :)

Thanks for checking in, Amit. I tried installing to the Ipaq file store but had the same result. I'm going to try installing to default directory and see if that helps at all. I've registered over on the SBSH forums to hopefully get things sorted out there.

Not sure why uninstalling should cause a problem - certainly should not cause it to hang.

One of the issues with uninstalling software which includes a today screen plugin is that you have to signal the operating system to unload the today screen DLL before it can be removed.

The PocketWeather uninstall should signal the operating system to unload the today screen DLL prior to deleting everything.

I would be interested to hear whether it is a SD-card issue on the 2215, or a general issue with the 2215 (i.e. does it do it when uninstalling from main memory?

Just to clarify - it was not the uninstall that I was having problems with. It was the install process. I did manage to get it installed by just using the cab file. No problems so far *touch wood*
