palmOne to make a Windows Mobile-powered Treo 650 for Dell?

We hate to keep feeding the rumors about palmOne making a Windows Mobile version of the Treo 650, but latest juicy bit of gossip going around is that Dell has been trying to get palmOne to take the plunge so they can resell the Treo 650 to their corporate customers. Dell’s gotten knee-deep with their line of Axim Pocket PCs, but obviously they know which way the wind is blowing and have realized that they need to get in on that sweet smartphone action. So why not just partner with the best around rather than develop their own, right? Just a rumor for now, but with palmOne struggling to get profitable we wouldn’t be too surprised if they were seduced by Dell’s millions.
It would be great if Dell offered a nice, compact, SmartPhone in it's fair. If done properly, (including the ability to dynamically use WiFi/VoIP similar to the HP 6315), I'd snatch one up quick.

My Treo is why I'm no longer involved here as I used to be. My only complaint is that it doesn't use Windows Mobile, but I'd be happy to upgrade to a Treo 650 with that promise. :D
If PalmOne converts entirely to Windows Mobile, does that mean the end of competition for the handheld market? That wouldn't be good at all. There would be no competition to keep prices low. Microsoft could charge as much for Pocket PC as they do for Windows. They need some competition, just to keep prices low.

Yes but for what a Pocket PC can do many things a blackberry can't. Just think of all the tasks you do with a touch screen. IMHO, Blackberry's suck.
Blackberrys are a fine thing, but they are more aimed at corporate business customers who need real-time access to their e-mails at all times. It is natural that they don't have the same appeal to today's youth like those shiny colorful PocketPCs with their fancy sound & graphics capabilities, but then again they are in rather different markets anyway, so there is no need to compare.
