X50v - Maximize Your Available Memory

With only 64Mb of RAM, the X50v could really take advantage of some memory optimization. Whether this be storage location hacks (such as Avantgo), or just general maintenance, you can have all your apps installed PLUS still have plenty of operating memory.

My current memory status? 21Mb Program / 7.5Mb Storage - and that's with just minor optimizations with a quite a few programs installed.

The first thing I recommend trying is installing your applications to a CF card. I have a 1GB Lexar that I'm currently using 250Mb of for games, movies, and the like. Applications that interact directly with the system layer (XCPUScalar, WisBar Advance 2,Tweaks2k2, Voice Command, MultiIE, ozVGA, and are good examples) should be installed to the Main memory.

I've talked to a few people about this... Is there a reason to put the apps on CF rather than SD I've heard people say SD access is faster on the axim than CF? I just got my axim replacement unit a few days ago and recently started putting apps on the SD (regular sandisk SD 1G) card. I also have an 80x lexar CF 1G which I have dos games, video, and mp3s on....

Install all your apps to built in storage which has about 90 meg available. Makes a big difference.

I did to my X50v
