Spb Software House Adds Money Synchronization to Spb Finance

December 21, 2004 - Inspired by the success of the previously released editions of Spb Finance, Spb is now targeting the needs of those whose favorite desktop financial program is Microsoft Money by offering Spb Finance Money Edition. In this version of Spb Finance you can synchronize your finance data between Spb Finance and Microsoft Money. If you have Money installed on your desktop, it will remain your main financial program. At the same time you will always have a powerful program on your Pocket PC that provides quick and easy data input. You can go shopping with the assurance that you will not miss a single transaction, because Spb Finance will carefully collect and store your data. Afterwards, when you get access to your desktop PC, just dock your device and all the changes will be synchronized with Money automatically.

Using Spb Finance Money Edition you can create accounts, categories, classes, payees, transactions and currencies on your Pocket PC as well as edit and delete them.

Many have complained that Pocket Money, the program that comes with Microsoft Money, lacks many of the critical features that are so needed, such as: multi-currency support, budgets, classes, reports, import/export, backup etc. All of these features are implemented in Spb Finance Money Edition. Further, Spb Finance Money Edition retains all the powerful features of Spb Finance, including a powerful register view, transaction splits, customizable auto-complete, reports, budgets, customizable categories and classes, and data encryption. Multiple currencies are supported, as is a Today-screen plug-in that allows for quick, at-a-glance data, and an additional layer of protection using AES (Rijndael) encryption is offered through password-protection.

Can the data file be stored on a storage card?
This is important since to use budgeting and reports you would need all the transactions and accounts. This could eat up a lot of memory.

Can't find the answer on the web site or the user manual.

This is all very good, but, Cash Organizer is still the best Check Register program out. It shows everything you need to work your checking account. The most important this is whether or not a specific transaction has cleared or not. With Money, and now Spb, you have to manually enter the transaction to verify that it has cleared or not. Also, Cash Organizer has a great ending total visual that shows you the ending balance, Reconciled and UN-Reconciled. This is how I know that my check book is balanced to my bank balance without having to do the math.

Spb Finance for Ms Money is file based (Just like Ms Money) and can be placed almost anywhere. I've tested it on a storage card and it worked fine. There is a spot under options to change the file location. This makes it a sweet little companion to Ms Money with almost all I need while on the go without it being a full blown financial analysis program. It does do basic charting and sync well with money unlike the software provided by MS. After using this for a couple of days I dumped Ms Money for Pocketpc.

It also allows multipal currancies so you can have one account in $'s and amother in £'s - very important to me - I've been using it from beta and I love it - best banking type program I've used on my Ax by far
