Hey Dolph, Greg (greisdorf) is working on a better installer and putting the stylus control back in. If you email us at troubleshooting@blacksmithstudios.com we will work with you to resolve the graphic issue.

As for the audio issues. We will be trying to get SFX to work ASAP. We're also going to reassmble the audio team to improve the music tracks; time permitting. The audio was originally written in MIDI but the 2700g has no hardware midi support and renders audio out to wav which kills game speed, so last minute we had to re-write the music in .mod (we had a few tech conferences to attend that needed our game as a tech demo). I'm sure that's more than anyone's interested in knowing.. hehe. Long story short, we'll do our best to make the audio better.

Thanks to everyone for all the input!

Alright, I deleted it and reinstalled it-I did make a mistake in initial install when I installed it direct to device installed of the installed storage ram..

As for the game it self, it plays and has a similar feel as interstellar flames which was last updated sept 2002. With the similiar game style and concept, you can truly see what programming for the graphic chip can add to a game. Wow incredible graphics in Solterra. Your ship will even lose its wing after it gets damaged.
As others have said about the control, it is a similiar style fox camera game so you control your guy in a similiar fashion. Its a tad hard for me with my sena case because my finger hits the side of the case when using the directional controls-I know take it out of the case to play which I would when the full game comes out because the graphics are that good.
There is a slit drawing problem out in the distance as asteroid come out of no where and you see parts of them being drawn, it looks a tad odd [sorry I'm lacking the technical term that I am looking for here]

Very nice game, thank you for making use of the full power of our axim. Will be one to look for when it gets released. :approve:

Greg just informed me that there were some gapi issues and he's working on fixing it; hopefully that'll fix the graphics problems some people have had.

AnimNX: Thanks for then suggestion. We'll put in the memory error messages. And by we, I pretty much mean Greg.

I installed the game, but it seems to be playing at about 1 frame a second. And yes it was set at maximum speed, so don't know what the issue is. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

If you have installed Picard's tweaked GAPI driver, disable it in the system panel before running Solterra.

Hmm

I tried twice to get the zip file version today via the link on the Solterra Web Site both times I get the following.

Not Found
The requested URL /downloads/SolterraDemo.zip was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/1.3.33 Server at solterra.blacksmithstudios.com Port

I was however able to dl it using the link from post#9 by greisdorf.

I just download the game and the graphics are great. The one thing that I have problem with is the Fire button. It should be on the right.

Just my 2 cents.: Tony

Reef22: I totally agree! The button layouts were different on our dev unit, so we are implementing custom button configs into the next build; so you'll be able to get the buttons exactly how you want them.

Is this only for the X50v or can it run on a X50mid also?

Solterra utilizes the Intel 2700g multimedia accelerator that so far is only available on the X50v.

Sadly, it won't run on my Palm VX either. That thing used to cost as much as an x50v does now.... anyone want to trade? I'll throw in a sweet blue aluminum case too!

The new beta of Solterra 1.1 runs super slow on my Axim X50v w/ the A02 ROM upgrade. The original ran great, almost too fast, even off my CF card. It just didn't have sound fx. The new beta is jerky, and doesn't have any sound at all. Also it doesn't work w/ Picards GAPI tweak (can't remember if the original beta did or not).
