Solterra Demo is now available - wow!

This thread was started last night and the word is getting around that the demo for Solterra is available for download. The game takes advantage of the 2700g in the X50v. Two things to note before you download
  1. the demo downloads to main memory and
  2. to uninstall you have to use the solterra.exe file you download. It will detect the game and allow you to uninstall.
Graphics are awesome and the comments in the above thread are comments I share. I had no problems installing and uninstalling the demo. Thanks for the heads up theoak!

You can download the demo here.

Only works if you install to the default directory, even then it appears to lock up but be patient, it actually does work.

Graphics are pretty cool, game play is not that great and the controlls are backwards (left handed)

Good to see some developers using the G2700 though, hopefully more will follow.

issues

We are having some issues with our installer at the moment. If you loose focus on the installation window it will appear to have locked up, but it is still installing. Just give it about 3-5 minutes then you will get the complete screen.

We just heard about only the default directory working, and the space issues. We'll be figuring those out ASAP.

As for the controls how would you like them? After over a year of playing with the controls you kinda get use to them. We are still waiting on our x50v to come in. Thats why its an open beta, our dev unit is slighty different.

Greisdorf,

Great to see you are reading the forums and getting feedback from the people that are going to be purchasing and playing your game.

As for controlls id like to see some sort of stylus control for direction, its very hard to get a precise movement from a digital input. As for the other controls such as Turbo and fire, id like to see them be user definable. Perhaps have an option to use stylus for direction or D pad as im sure some users will prefer D pad and other will prefer stylus.

Thanks for Developing for the G2700 !

Installer Quick fix - suggestions

So we have quickly fixed our installer by getting rid of it! You can download the zip version at:
http://www.blacksmithstudios.com/dow...lterraDemo.zip

Just copy the Solterra folder to where ever you would like.

FYI - Stylus controls will most likely drop the fps. But we'll give it a shot.

Suggest away, if you don't want to post suggestions just e-mail us at troubleshooting@blacksmithstudios.com.

its a verry nice game, BUT before I am gonna buy it the controls HAVE to be improved..

I wan't stylus control and smoother control with the d-pad so the plane doesn't go farest left or right just by giving a little click with the d-pad witch makes the game right no way to hard to get a enemy down..

and I want to be able to configurate the buttons!

I was able to install to the built in storage with no problem. It was exiting out on me until I realized I onle had like 5MB of RAM left because I had a 30MB AVI in RAM that I was testing. Once I removed the AVI all was good. Maybe do a soft reset prior to installing to clear up the RAM?

You do get used to the controls after a while ... the boost in the middle though gets me a lot of the time ... it would be nice if that was another button. I actually run the game at 208MHz ... at 624MHz it is too fast for me :) (call me old :))

Its funny that the game was too fast for you. We spent about the last six months trying to make it faster.
