I consider a few things when making a decision to purchase a discounted/sale item....

first, my COMFORT LEVEL on using a product (for the Axim purchase, I wasn't too comfortable using a pocketPC so the price was right). There may be better and/or more expensive ppc's on the market but, I'm new at this and don't need to spend $500+ to gain knowledge and have a cool toy.

QUALITY/PRODUCT REVIEWS/USER EXPERIENCE A deal is a great thing to get. But, a deal on a useless product is still useless. If the Axim had recieved an overall poor user review, I would have decided against it. Fortunately, the Axim's quality is actually way better than I expected for a little over $300. Mostly, because of this site and the reviews, I decided to get one & try it out. So far, all is good.

Sure, I do look for deals but it's not the first thing I consider when buying something. A little research can often save you more.

Yes,

BUT - do your homework first and once you have decided on the product you are going to buy, then it becomes a question of where and how you are going to buy the product. With the Axim, I was in the Toshiba camp having ruled out the Ipaq and others for lack of bang for the buck.

Once I found the Axim, read the reviews and knew what I wanted, it simply became a quesion of how to best buy the product.

This site was a tremendous help in sorting that out!!

Is there even anything that can touch the Axim as far as price goes? Excluding of course a three year old palm pilot with a black and white screen. ;) The Axim even has a $50 rebate. No wonder they're selling like hotcakes.

Well...no amount of discount will induce me to buy something I'm not interested in. A discount *might* get me looking at something I've already been thinking of buying.

(I voted 'maybe')

Not that I will influence anyone, but I am very tired of rebates, and wish the companies involved would just lower their dang prices. :(
