And the software updates just don't quit, do they? SBSH has just released Pocket Breeze 4.3 Beta. This is a highly recommended today program to better view contacts, appointments, and tasks. This version boasts a range of new features, but my favorite happens to be the Custom Tab that "can be customized to include any other today screen plug-ins inside it!". Maybe this means all those notes I've been wanting to bring to the Today Screen finally have a home. But mainly, they tote this new build as being "faster and smaller". I know I'm excited!
As always, this is beta. Take caution whenever installing these things. Don't forget to backup!
This is the press release Amit sent me . . . very nice screen shot. hn
PocketBreeze, the original today screen plug-in with tabs, enters version 4.3 public beta. Introducing the custom tab concept.
March 8, 2005 - Today, SBSH Mobile Software announced the initial public beta of PocketBreeze version 4.3, introducing the custom tab concept.
Some of the new features in PocketBreeze 4.3
New and exciting custom tab support! - PocketBreeze becomes the first today screen plug-in to allow close integration with any other today screen plug-in that can be added as a new tab inside PocketBreeze. The custom tab is loaded and released dynamically for better memory management and offers the best solution for the limiting today screen real-estate problem
New fresh VGA look! - VGA users will enjoy many design and default-settings improvements with PocketBreeze 4.3
Horizontal tabs scroll bar, better tabs management and some few additional user interface improvements
A question about the custom tab: Is there any difference between adding another today plugin like weather panel in the BP custom tab and adding it to Pocket Plus as an icon? Thanks.
Checked out the latest Pocket Breeze, immediately paid for a registration... this program is exactly what I needed to thin out my Today screen clutter and provide moderately better functionality from tasks and calendar needs.
Now, once they start allowing multiple custom tabs in the next update, we'll be all set!

I believe the question may actually be different, the reasoning for the added tab or upcoming tabs have several functions.
1) Adds real estate as space becomes available
2) you can load the tabbed item at start up
3) or you can load the item and keep it loaded when selected
4) or you can load the item and have it unload when moving back to another task / tab
This increases memory control on the device.
I am sure there are other reasons, I would check on the 22 page thread re the Beta or with Amit the developer directly.

Mmmm, I'm running ver. 4.2 and loving it. I hope this is a free upgrade.
But the question should really be: Should I upgrade now or wait for the non-beta release?

As far as I am aware, you can only add apps to Pocket Plus, ie you click on an app and it opens in full screen. PB allows you to add today plug in and view them within a user determined area of the today screen.
For instance, if you already have a plug in (any) on your today screen that perhaps you don't want to view permenantly, you could add it to PB and with one tap view it within PB on your today screen thus freeing up the real estate it used to occupy. As far as I know Pocket Plus only lets you do that with newer versions of its own products (Pocket Weather, Pocket GPRS etc).
Hope this helps but remember, once it comes out of beta, I'm sure a trial version will be available. Amit and SBSH team offer the best support I have known.
As a further thought - I have added Pocket Plus as the plugin and freed?! up 25% of my today screen

SBSH beta's go through an inital private beta before public, so all major issues should be ironed out. However, as the intial thread says - always back up when installing a beta. I have had no problems, but for comfort, view the thread at SHSH.net as this will provide info on the various plugins people have tried (probably covers most).
And, yes, all versions 4.2 to 4.x will be free to you according to SBSH pricing policy.
