As kind of a follow-on to forkyfork's post on CeBIT 2005, found this bit of intersting news. If the screenshot is any indication of the software . . . wow! Read on intrepid Nero fans and neophytes! BTW, in order to get this you have to register a purchased copy of Nero 6. hn
Nero Announces Nero ShowTime Mobile
Nero Digital™ powered Multimedia Solution for Mobile Devices to be previewed at CeBIT
CeBIT Hanover, Germany (March 2005) -- Nero, leaders in digital media technology, has announced plans to release Nero ShowTime Mobile, a universal multimedia player for mobile devices with Symbian, Windows CE and Windows Mobile operating systems.
So Nero is jumping into the ring... I'll be watching this one with a great deal of interest being a firm believer in the quality of their past work.

Indeed, I generally stick with WMP and PocketMVP, which is why I'm going to watch this one closely. What I'd -really- like is Winamp for handheld, but I haven't come across anything like that yet.

I think if Winamp ever made a handheld port, I would die a happy woman.
Especially if all the plugins worked as well!!
I think the only thing pocket media players are missing is a good library function. Show me that and I think we'll have a winner.
I have Nero 6.6 Ultra and tried to download the ShowTime Mobile just to see what it would be like, used my license # (it is a legitimate purchased version), but it told me my key was invalid
A library function is definitely important, but I've always held playlists to be of higher importance to me... I'm going to take a hard look at WinamPAQ and see if it'll do what I need it to. Thanks for the heads up!

I've read the site and am not sure what formats Nero ShowTime Mobile
supports. I need something that supports
Meg-4
.ASF
g726 (audio codec)
If any one is currently using the new nero showtime mobile and would like to help answer if they support these particular formats. Please PM me and I will send you a short (10 - 20 second) video clip.

it seems like for audio is alright... supporting mp3 and aac... but for video, it only supports their own format... i never use the nero digital encoder so i am not sure what are all the formats it supports... i think it supports at least mpeg1 and mpeg2 because u can author your own vcd and dvd via the nero suite.
If this Nero app doesn't play any video file, I won't be using it. Aside from MPEG2 video and Quicktime videos, Betaplayer does everything I need. Although I wonder if this Nero app will use very little battery... That would amke it attractive to me.

I just did a quick test with a nero produced .mp4 video and betaplayer seems to handle it much better than showtime mobile. I'm assuming that the 2700g decoder in Betaplayer is a major factor.
It will also handle iTunes ripped .m4a but not bought(protected) .m4p
I couldn't get mpeg-1 or mpeg-2 to play either.

Did you have to do anything special to get the showtime mobile to work? I installed it but it just locks up my axim (X50v) to the point where I have to reset it. Has anybody else had this problem? Frustrating. It would be nice if it does work because it supports the AVC codec which allows the high quality nero digital video files to be compressed even smaller.
