Before you complain that x50 isn't on the list, note the source and designation of the article. This list was based on which PDA's Krusell customers ordered cases for. A more appropriate title would have been "The top 10 selling Krusell cases of March 2005". Of course, that doesn't nearly sound as exciting. I had to do a double take when I saw the Mio and Qtek in the top 2 spots (respectively).
But now, my curiosity is intrigued. Does anyone know where to find a reputable list of the top selling units? It's a shame smartphones have to be included in this list, but I guess we have to be fair. I hope the Axim x50v unit would at least be on the list, but I'd be willing to bet the Treo 650 would take the #1 spot.

Here's the 2004 numbers by manufacture not by specific model.
Looking at the numbers what jumps out at me is Palm sold almost 1,000,000 more units than HP but their revenue was 200 million less.
Dell had $215 Million in revenue which sounds like a large number but they had about $41.4 BILLION total last year. So the Axim's really don't amount to much.

Thank you so much.
I hope Dell doesn't give up on their PDA department. We still love them!!
I don't think Dell will give up. Look at HP's & Palms numbers. That's where I'd guess they have their sights set. Assuming that these little toys are profitable! Selling $1 billion and not making much money isn't a great business plan.
Hey,
Anyone else bothered by this line in the estimates:
"Note: Totals do not include smartphones, such as the Treo 600 or BlackBerry 7100, but include wireless PDAs, such as the iPAQ 6315."
How is the iPaq a 'wireless PDA', and the Treo not.
I would really love to see a breakdown representing ALL PDA-ish units sold, be them PDA's or PDA phones or whatever. Maybe just break the list up by manufacturer and operating system or something.
I love how we keep hearing about the death of the PDA, and in the next breath we'll hear how we all need to run out right now and get Treo's or Blackberry's.
I know from a sure source at Dell that the X50v has sold over 1,000,000 units in North America since it was introduced.
If the numbers from this report are accurate, 693,000 units in all of 2004. 1,000,000 x50v's in North America alone in 2 quarters is a huge increase. I'd be very surprised if that number is accurate. Not impossible but very improbable. In about 30 days wee should be able to find some Q1 05 numbers.
