Good review. I have been considering this product.

On I minor note, I would like to point out that my BBS on my first PC ran on a 1200 baud modem. I later upgraded to 2400 baud and lusted after a speedy 14.4. Just a lighy hearted correction on the "This is a very slow speed, slower then many of the first modems available for desktop PC's. You might remember the 14 kbps modems, they were very slow and it was frustrating to get online with them." part of the review.

As the reviewer aptly pointed out, when you need to connect, slow speed is better than no speed! :)

I just bought a cable to link my Axim to and older Star Tac. Cable works great, it's my cell provider that slows it down. Sprint gives me only 14k so things take awhile. but it sure beats waiting around for Wifi or Bluetooth.

Keep trying if you don't connect at first. As NMKiD points out, the cable/phone can initially fail to connect multiple times. I was about to give up and return the cable after an20-30 failed dial attempts over a couple of days when suddenly -- without doing anything differently that I could Identify -- it atarted to work.

my cable was having problems consistently connecting so they promptly sent me a new one. i dont think you should have to wait through so many attempts. if you're having problems let them know--may be a faulty cable. anyways i have verizon, but my girlfriend has sprint and i heard with the vision plans you get 128kbs, but i called sprint and they said you're not allowed to connect vision phones to pda's. if they find out your service could be terminated. but how would they find out, right?
