Well, it looks like the Magicstor 2.2 GB microdrive isn't helped at all by this rom update. I don't have as many problems with mine as others have, but the issues I have are still there.

Hi all,
I have an US axim x50v A02 Rom and when i want to upgrade the A03 Rom it doesn't work and i have this error message : * The update does not support this language version. I'm sure my Rom version is an US one and i can't understand this message.

PS: I used the link inside this forum to download the A03 Rom. And i hope it's an US english one.

It's a big bug in the A03 upgrader, if your PC's region/language setting isn't english. change setting to english will work.

Hey I'm not sure if someone posted this yet, but the ROM Update available on the Dell site is also for us lowly Axim X50 people too...lol. Was checking out what the ROM Update does on the Dell site, and it says it's for the X50.

I have de same problem, my desktop PC is in spnsish and the Axim X50v is in english. I update to ROM A02 with no problems but now I can't update to ROM A03 because stop me and error which says me: "The update does no support this languaje version"
I don't know how to change language for non-unicode programs.
Please help me

Keep in mind there are two separate upgrades: one for the X50 and another for the X50v. Someone had previously asked that the initial post in this thread be modified to refelct this.

have you guys tried this? It was posted couples pages before The problem was WinXP language version! The program works only with WinXP English. Workaround - if someone has WinXP on any other language different from English, do this: Start > Settings > Control Panel > Regional Options > Advanced > Non-unicode programs > Choose "English-US", then reboot.

I was very disappointed when I bought my new Axim X50v two months ago and it did not recognize my Kingston 1 Gig CF card. Now after upgrading the rom my 1 gig card works fine!

FWIW, I've used a 1GB Kingston CF card from the beginning with my X50v and never had any problems with it....

Upgraded to A03 from A02. Works great!!! Much faster response to touchscreen. Better memory management. So far so good.

Cheers all. Just updated my x50v to A03 and restored my apps. So far, all seems to be working perfectly, but the Jury is still out on Wireless while I run through some more testing. Have a perfect chance on Tuesday coming up at a trade show using Skype with a BT headset. Should be an excellent proving ground.

Thanks to information in this forum, I downloaded a trial version of Sprite Backup thinking that if it helped make the A03 Rom update "recovery" faster I would purchase it. Well, I had credit card in hand purchasing it within a half hour of doing the A03 update! It worked beautifully!
I did install it onto my SD card and used it to update everything before doing the update. And, lo and behold, after the hard re-set, I tapped on the back-up file on the SD card, clicked restore, and everything was back just the way I had it, didn't even need to re-establish a partnership with ActiveSync which I think I did after the A02 update.

What a helpful forum this has been!

Updated my x50v from A02 to A03 and reinstalled some of my apps. Everything seems to be working fine. I did a hard reset prior to updating to see if there are any increase of storage/memory space (as observed after updating from A01 to A02). The amount of available storage/memory space of A03 is exactly the same as A02.

I tried to extract the file but then it say extrated with some error. Seems like all the files are there but when I try to update the rom, it say need to connect AC adapter. I already have it connect to active sync. Am I doing something wrong?
