Hardware feature not in x50v, right?
Supposedly, from a link a while back, sorry can't find it right now...this means:

1. All software will be loaded into and ran from ROM, filestore, BIS (like a PC) and
2. Only those things actively running will be in RAM (like a PC)

This means that ANY stored data will not be lost during a hard reset, unlike now where most stuff is in RAM...plus ALL storage will be in the BIS, or on flash card.

More memory for the OS to use during operations because the OS itself is not loaded into RAM like now.

That IS kind of odd, huh? no x3, x30 or any hx3***...
I guess they wanted to stay away from WM2003 or SE. :approve:

I think that Dell should at least consider the x30 for upgrading...nice piece of work they have there.

The RAM thing sounds really nice. As i see on my Desktop, more RAM brings higher speed boosts then a faster CPU. 624 Mhz are quite enough, the limited RAM with all its stuff loaded in it all the time is something which prevents the PPC to show good 3D and Office performance.

Now we got more RAM, now we lack the 3D API BUT:
Direct3D is another thing which i can`t wait to see on the PPC. In addition to the new RAM feature there will be some really good lokking games and other pieces of software out there soon.

I am happy i got an X50v and will be able to use WM5 before i actually have to buy a new device. I hope i will get the emulator soon at the office so i can test all this new stuff and the new APIs they added. If its what i expect from it i would pay up to $50 or more. But i don`t think it will be that much. Its just an update...

When i got WM5 i can sit back, relax and enjoy my X50v till next year, when DELLs gives me a new Toy with HDD and USB Support. From the today point of view thats the only 2 things i miss in the X50v.

Hey guys, great news! BUT don't forget that we, non English users, are still sticked with the A00 rom and don't even have the "screen touch improvement" provided with the A02 and A03 English and German roms........
So Windows mobile 2005.....sweet dream!

Non-english users have been screwed over since the dawn of time. Why are you surprised?

I am in a non english country but i don`t care about that. I allways use the english versions of everything.

My Desktop got US WinXP Prof, my old X50 was US Version, my X50v i use atm is A03 US ROM and i will get myself a copy of US WM5 when its release for the X50. The ppl at Dell helped me a lot cause our company is a reseller of their products so i am able to get US Versions of everything.

@ é (ALT130): I don`t know where you r from but you are posting to a english-speaking site so you prolly be able to use US Version ROM A03 too. Why don`t use the Us update instead of waiting forever for a localized version?

Question...once upgraded to WM2005 what happens to the rom that we upgraded such as A03 will that mean I will have a device running WM2005 with A03 rom, or does it delelte the a03 rom when you put WM2005? Sorry for the dumb question. Its just that I love A03...and don't want to have the Bluetooth/Wifi problem back.

I mean I got jacked on the 2200 with windows 2k3se so I bought an axim X50v instead on one of the new units from HP, and HP better put out for the new units or else there would probably be a posse knocking on their door.

How is WM 5.0 going to run on the X50V with "persistent RAM" if the X50V doesn't have it now.
