Minimo or ‘Mini Mozilla’ version .005 for the Pocket PC was released today 5/17/2005). Minimo is a Pocket PC web browser designed to offer users an option besides Pocket IE. Support for this relatively young project has been huge. While there are no ‘new’ features in this release, the changes that have been made are mostly transparent. The changes mostly include bug fixes and program crashes. Maps.google.com is now supported by Minimo. We believe we are the only web browser for the Pocket PC that supports Google maps. In future releases of Minimo you can look forward to some of the familiar features found in Firefox such as tabs. Please remember, Minimo is young. Any feedback is much appreciated. Feedback and questions can be directed to aximsite member tange1.

In the mean time try out .005! Hopefully in a day or so I'll have made a installer for everyone. In the mean time you must download, unzip then copy the folder to your device (SD/CF card suggusted). You must have a large amount of free program memory to run minimo. After minimo is copied you can run winembed.exe Please be aware that the first run of minimo is the slowest as it must register files.
While I'm a huge Mozilla fan, and very appreciative of everyone who is contributing to this project, I just still don't feel that it is something I would use in its current form. Give it a little time and some more mobile-friendly features, and it will hopefully be a great alternative to PIE and the other 3rd party browsers.

It's certainly far from enterprise ready, but you gota have feedback ;-)

What is "a large amount for memory"? I get a "Cannot find 'winEmbed' (or one of its components)" error when tapping on the winEmbed.exe file in the Minimo directory. I tried freeing up 30MB of memory and soft resetting to no avail....
Datalux, a hand full of people have reported this to me recently. Unfortunatly I have no device to test it on right now. I am trying to narrow down what could be causing this.
Yeah, me too I click it and it doesnt start.. actually I dont even get an error just a bleep sound (taping the exe in resco). I run in OZ_VGA so I set it back to Qvga without sucess.
Oh must have been a post at the same time thing... any way we can help test and find out whats goin on?
awdark, you must be sure to only tap it once. You should recieve the pocket pc working symbol, then minimo should start. Perhaps there is something wrong with this build afterall...dont shoot the messenger :-) I'm just the Q and A guy (Who also handles bug submissions)
ah okay, used the built in file explorer and got
Cannot find 'winEmbed' (or
one of its components). Make
sure the path and filename
are correct and all the
required librares are
avalible.
Tange1, the problem is with this minimo package (at least on x50v), the previous version loaded fine. Please test it on a "clean" PDA before releasing packages for testing.
