Proporta.com Unveil Accessories for x50/x50v
Proporta.com have now got quite a range of accessories for your Dell Axim x50/x50v. Here's what they're offering:
" Always committed to providing all the accessories you need, Proporta has released a selection of products for the increasingly popular Dell Axim X50/X50v PDAs.
Firstly, for those of you who use an extended battery on their device, Proporta has released an Aluminium Case that’s suitable for use with the extended battery in place.
Made from the finest aircraft grade anodised Aluminium the Proporta Aluminium Case incorporates a soft neoprene lining that cushions the devise from internal knocks and scratches whilst it is securely held in the case. As the case has been precision-moulded for the Axim X50 and X50v, it includes cutouts for the major functions and ports as well as a fully removable belt clip. As with all Proporta Aluminium Cases there is space for an SD card to be stored inside the case.
For added usability Proporta has released a USB Sync/Charge Cable that connects directly to the device allowing it to be connected to a PC or laptop to allow the unit to be either charged or synchronised. Alternatively the UBS Sync/Charge Cable can be used in conjunction with an AC Mains Power Supply or Car Power Supply without removing the X50/X50v from the case.
Another vital accessory for many PDA owners is an Advanced Screen Protector. Fully removable, washable and replaceable, the Proporta Advanced Screen Protector lessens glare and improves ‘feel’ when using the stylus. As the screen of the X50v is slightly different to that of the X50, Proporta has released one for each device."
You can now register all Proporta branded products for Lifetime Warranty here

I've always found Proporta to be a nice company to deal with.
You can get 10% off all hardware (Except GPS) and 20% off all software (Including the amazing Tomeraider) by using the code in the UK deals forum

I've had a few of their leather cases (for an X5, an X3i, and for my X50v). They are well made and the leather is beautiful and first-rate. Definitely not a cheapo brand.

You seem to have had a good experience with Proporta. Mine has been terrible.
I ordered a magnesium case for my x50v on 23 March and still haven't received it, 2 months later. I have received one round robin email about it telling me it was still not ready for distribution and despite my emails and calls I am still no nearer knowing. Whilst they sent me a brown neoprene case (which given it is no longer advertised on their site I assume they can't sell) to tide me over, this really isn't any use at all for someone who uses their PDA for business and needs something that adds less bulk. I suggested that I return it and receive a (cheaper) crystal case to tide me over but they said no. If anyone wants an unused nice brown neoprene case let me know!
I also ordered a sync cable from them. After a long delay (out of stock as well) they sent the wrong one. Eventually they asked me to send it back, and about a week ago I received a correct one.
I still have no idea when my mag case will arrive. I've phoned and emailed and had nothing but still don't have an answer. At one point they did specify a date, but after it had come and long gone I chased again to find out that there were further delays.
I do find 2 months delay is not good enough with only one email from them, other than when replying to my chasing. I made the crystal swap as an opportunity to turn me from Mr Angry to Mr Pacified but no such luck!!

This aluminum case for extended battery looks just like the DSI case and pdair aluminum case. Wish someone would come up with a better design instead of branding another case as their own. That little piece of metal in the corner is rather annoying.

If you are in the UK you can cancel your order at any time under the distance selling regulations. They will even arrange collection of your old case.
The Neoprene case is actually quite good. I got one when they didn't have any alu in stock. Ordered Monday.. Neoprene wednesday... Alu Friday- and they still said I could keep the case :approve:
The case is still for sale at about £20 and is well worth the money. A link for it is below

Not in brown it ain't still for sale!
Maybe it is a good case, but it is not an appropriate substitution for the mag case. It's much larger than the slip case.
I need a case that is not bulky. You can't practically use the neoprene case in a suit / business environment. It's just too big so I'm keeping with the crappy Dell Slip case for now as even that is better for my needs.
I just feel that they've had my money for two months, haven't been proactive in keeping me informed of the ever increasing delays, have sent me the wrong cables, etc etc and have not really done anything to pacify me. I still want my case and will wait but can't see me going back to Proporta as my experience has been far from satisfactory so far. I'd love them to do something to make me change my mind but I can't see it happening at the moment.

Actually, after having used the case for several weeks, when in the case, my axim x50v started behaving strangely, like i tapped somewhere to the very left of the screen and it registered the tap on the very right side of the screen... weird, so i was trying to press the start button but it closed whatever program i was running
:rolling: Then i found out, it was caused by the case. I think it fitted to the x50v so tightly that it squeezed the screen (or it's touch layer) making it respond strangely. My solution was: bend the aluminium on the case to make it fit less tight, and it worked :) lucky me, i was afraid i'd have to send my axim back to USA for servicing
[You have to admin this is an interesting post, isn't it PROPORTA?]

I have the Proporta for my Axim x50v w/extended battery and could not be happier. Very sturdy construction and it works - dropped the Axim on the street getting out of my truck last week and viola no dents, scratches or dings...fell about 3 feet to concrete and the Proporta did its job.... :approve:
