Is it ok to just install the newer version on top of the existing one, or should I uninstall it first?

It's up to you. I've made it so that it stops the SafeMode service first, when installing/reinstalling. So it should work both ways.

Thanks! I installed it right over my last version and it works perfectly. This is a really handy little utility. It'll sure come in handy when I do something stupid to cause a lockup or other wacky error.

I just updated the program to v0.6. It now disables 3rd party SIP plugins. Please check the project page for changes.

So when you don't press the action button and boot normally, does the program release all memory or does it still leave some footprint?

right now it still running in background. well, "running" is one way of putting it, since it just waits, therefore it doesn't use CPU. just occupies 10Kb of memory or so. I'll change that in future versions though.

Hello,

I've updated the website a bit. Made it a blog with RSS for easier updates, and also added forums. SafeMode news and downloads are there. I hope you like it.

Hi monocube, i take it you made Safe Mode for PPC and first i would like to say it is a great little program ;)

If in newer versions of Safe Mode, it would be good to see Safe Mode in the programs folder on the PPC where it auto restarts the PPC and starts in Safe Mode? I know this is freewere but it would be great to see this.

Thanks for sharing this program with us

Umm...I'm not sure I understand exactly what you mean? You want a shortcut in Programs, and when you click it it auto-restarts in Safe Mode? I could do that...but more often when you will need Safe Mode, you won't be able to get to "Programs" at all, due to some malware/buggy application. Please correct me if I badly understood your request.
And by the way, the fact that is freeware has nothing to do with user suggestions and comments ;). I always listen to them

Updated SafeMode to 0.65. I've changed the default safemode sound with Voicbeep.wav; or you can just place a safemode.wav in your Windows folder. Also, SafeMode is unloaded from memory on normal startups, after 3 seconds.

I hope it works for you ;)

Yes it can be done, I'll do that as an option for following version.

I've just made v0.66 as a quick fix. Apparently, there were issues with users having Password screen enabled, so I had to do this. I will make the Programs shortcut in v0.7

EDIT: Updated to v0.67. It now fixes improper Startup folder detection with some ROMs (for example, the Korean one).

EDIT2: Updated to v0.71. Fixed some issues with some PDAs, and added stylus support, as an alternative to pressing "Action".

EDIT3:I've updated SafeMode to v0.75. For those of you that had issues with SIP, please download this one instead. Also if you have unwanted SIP entries, please download FixSIP, also found in the download thread. I'm sorry for the trouble this has caused you.

For Monocube: will Safemode run on Pocket PC 2002? I have an older pda that doesn't have enough ROM for Pocket PC 2003 so that one is limited to Pocket PC 2002.
