I'm just not hearing a reason to upgrade, it's a hassle to reinstall everything, get it all reconfigured, all for "improved power on mechanism and robustness when changing memory freq."

I havn't had any problems when the device changes it's clock freq. nor have i had any problems with the power on mechanism, I push the button and it powers on.
From what I have read in the forums, there just isn't a noticable difference.
Perhaps if I were having stability problems when the device was "shifting gears" for power management, then I might upgrade. However, I am not.

If you have Sprite Backup you do not have to reinstall everything. I haven't tested this yet but I will report if it doesn't work as expected.

Or even the backup util that comes on the Axim's as standard. Always worked 100% for me every time.

I just updated. I really had nothing on my X50v worth keeping. So I took the chance to clean up and now I'm running on A04

Cheers

I just got my new Axim x50v on Monday and it had AO4 installed. So far, this device rocks bells.

Yeah, I don't really see a need to upgrade. What exactly is "Improved the power-on mechanism" and "Enhanced the system robustness when changing the memory frequency" going to do for me? I think it's a waste of a ROM Flash. Those should be "bonus" improvements.

I never upgraded to AO3, do I need to do that first or just install AO4?

You should be able to go straight to A04, since it would have rewritten everything anyway. Good luck!

Each upgrade is a full rom image, so no need for incremental upgrades, go straight to A04. If you see any point. I haven't seen any point in A03 yet, let alone A04.
