I have tried for a couple days to figure out a way I can allow our community to help out the Hurricane Victims, but there is a lot of red tape when soliciting 3rd party donations. I was trying to find a way to give our combined support in one lump sum, but without having employees to help me, there is not enough time to do it and keep all the T's crossed and I's dotted.
So instead, I simply ask each of you to consider making a donation to the American Red Cross. As a thank you to those that donate, I will add the site contributor status to all that donate to the Red Cross. Thanks!

You can also go directly to the Red Cross homepage, but their system is not as easily used as the Yahoo solution provided to the Red Cross for this cause.
Foward me any info to receive your contributor tag to chris(@)aximsite.com. Please be patient when waiting on tag. Thanks.

Thank you for your generous gift to the American Red Cross 2005 Hurricane Relief Fund. This fund makes it possible for the Red Cross to help nationwide Hurricane disaster victims of 2005 with critical needs such as shelter, food, clothing, counseling and other assistance. It's because of the 2005 Hurricane Relief Fund that our response can be immediate regardless of its location or the community’s ability to financially support our efforts.
Your generous support means the most to the families who rely on Red Cross to help them through some of the most difficult times of their lives.
Please continue to visit us at http://www.redcross.org/ to see how we’re using your 2005 Hurricane Relief Fund donation to make a difference, and for the most current disaster updates and stories about the people being helped.

Chris I sent what I could, I have Family in Gautier MS, they are better off them most, but from what they tell us, things are very very bad there. They do need our help.
Message from the American Red Cross:
Thank you for your donation to the American Red Cross in response to the Hurricane 2005 Relief effort. Your donation enables the Red Cross to provide immediate relief and long-term support through shelter, food, water, comfort kits, and other relief supplies. The Red Cross is mobilizing thousands of volunteers from our nationwide network of 850 chapters to assist those in need. The American Red Cross encourages you to learn more about these and other efforts by visiting www.RedCross.org.
There are already organizations taking donations: Red Cross,
Salvation Army, United Way 211 and, I am sure, many others.
Many cities in Texas are also giving housing and shelter, Wal-Mart and Target cards through United Way 211. I know in Bryan there are people in Lincoln Center and a couple of churches and the United Way and other organizations getting together to place people who need help and clothing etc.
Does anyone know wheteher the money I donate to the Red Cross will go specifically to aid the victims of Katrina or is it placed in a general relief fund that could be used for some other relief effort?

I don't mind change as long as I'm not around when it happens.

According to something on a local TV news report last night, if you donate locally and don't specify that it's to Katrina relief (like on the memo line of a check, I guess) it will go into local Red Cross funds. (That was a on a Champaign, IL, news program.)
If you're donating online, and the RC site says it's for Katrina, that would be different, I'm sure.
To be able to contribute the most bang for your buck, check with your work to see if the have any type of matching gift program. Mine will match 100% to a certain amount. Every additional donation will help.
