Need to store your passwords and personal info?

Since I started browsing the Internet several years ago, I always kept a document containing information related to the sites visited and of course User ID and passwords needed to access them. A few days ago I came across NYX Password Storage which is allowing me to store all this information and more securely. The good thing about Password Storage, it is free and can be found here

Nyx Password Storage is reliable and secure storage for your confidentional information, first of all for passwords, but not only them. Have you ever run into the situation, you couldn't remember password for your login on your favorite internet forum? Or password for your mailbox? Password for your Internet Messenger? Do you have some credit cards and you mix pin codes sometimes? Nyx Password Storage will help you to manage all your secret information!

Another great freeware tool for personal infor is Keepass. It not only stores your passwords securely, it also will generate secure passwords. And, it has a PC version, so your info is available on any machine you use

get it at: keepass.sourceforge.net

That looks good, Frenchy.

Too bad they don't make it for Palm, too. (I know: "Boo! Hiss!") My wife needs a decent app for this purpose to use on her company-issued Palm m500. I really wish they'd hurry up and switch to Axims like they're supposed to be doing!

What? They have to make SOMETHING like this for palm. In fact, I think they do. Splashwallet I believe.

These programs are neat but I think it's just a little big-brotherish. Call me paranoid, I just try to have my personal information written down in as little places as possible. I don't have my credit card phsyically written down anywhere, and I freak out when I accidentally type my passwords into clear fields .. even if no one is around. I have a pretty good memory, and I don't want anything too personal on my handheld. So, for now, I think I'll avoid these programs.

Cool...

I have been hesitant to use these password software too...

If there is one thing I remember...it's all my many usernames and passwords...

It's tempting though...

Me too. I literally have my passwords stored in a safe place like this:

Aximsite
Username: Forkyfork
Password: ********

I don't like it when companies will e-mail me my password in plain text. I freak out. Maybe because when I was in 6th grade, I hacked some girls Geocities site, and now I worry the same thing will happen to me :(

There is a great freeware Palm app called Keyring, I believe it can be found at www.freewarepalm.com
It will store passwords as well as generate random ones.

i use splashID - also free. they have versions for all sorts of platforms (palm, ppc, smartphone, desktop, ect). only the desktop version costs money. it's very well made, and seems very secure. i use it for credit card info, ect.
