Any other Q owners around??

I'd recently bought a Q and would love to start hearing more from other owners.

I've been through the gammit with Treo's, RAZR's, etc.. etc... and have currently decided on an Axim x51v and Motorola Q as my primary comms and organization setup.

These two devices complement each other very well and the capability to synch the two (via computer proxy) makes for great efficieny. The overlap that the Q has with regards for data entry is sufficient compensation for the loss of the Axim when I am unable to carry both devices.

If anyone else out there maintains a similar setup, please let me know. I'd love to find out what utilities you use as well as methods.

The Q is a real tret to use. Pushes email through wireless sync, excellent web browser, great data capabilities, and good variety of programs.

Q & Axim sync?

Buzzhog, Could you please explain a bit on precisely how you sync the Q and the Axim? Through a laptop? Can they communicate directly via BT (I've tried unsuccessfully)? Thx.

I am a "Q" owner as well. I find it is all I need these days. I have owned a few HP's as well as the Treo 700W and I have managed to make things work with my Q.

I just bought a Q 9m; I bought the media edition one through my provider Verizon. I also have an Axim; but I noticed today that I hadn't really touched my Axim at work, home, or school. The Q has been able to meet those needs so far.

I, too, have the same setup: Q & Ax
I don't carry my Ax much anymore. In fact, I'm looking into messing around with Linux on the Ax.
Anyone else?

I just bought a Q9m from Verizon. While I am a long-time Axim user (I bought my X5 in April, 2003, I believe), I haven't touched the Axim since last March. However, I wanted something to hold my calendar and contacts, with light web access on the road, plus I wanted to try out BT modem access from my laptop.

I haven't tried that yet, but so far I like the Q9m. One quibble - the calendar app is not searchable - which is just silly; every database on the device should be - and any of the third party addons that I have tried (Agenda Fusion, PI) make adding calendar items way too burdensome to be worth the added search.

Truth is that I would have bought an iPhone if I had decent GSM access, but my house is in a GSM black hole (though that seems to be getting better; my sister and brother were here for Christmas and she got a signal on her Blackberry Pearl pretty well, while he was able to get a signal on his phone when he stood in specific spots in the house). For right now, though, the Moto fits the bill.

I am a little jealous of the browser on my son's iPod Touch, however . . .

How does your Q compare to the Treo 700W as far as screen size, performance,...etc.?

Me too - plus!

For the record, I currently have an AT&T Q as well as an Axium 51v. I handle the AT&T contract for my company so I get about every new PDA unit when they come out. I have had a variety of Blackberry's, a Blackjack, a Cingular 8125, an 8525 and most recently, a Tilt. Considering all of these units, the Q has performed the best and I like it the best. I liked the Tilt but was very disappointed in the new keyboard (layout changes were good but keys still are not good - many mistakes while typing) as well as the quality. The first one I had refused to charge the batteries and the replacement only answered every third or 4th call - all the others went straight to voicemail. In regard to the Q - The good: Reception, voice quality, the speakers are unbelievably good and I have not been able to fat-finger the keyboard. I have large hands and think fingers and I can still type very fast on it. On the negative side, the battery life is rediculous - I am using the extended life battery and can only get to about 2 or 3 o'clock in the afternoon before it dies. I'm not into carrying 2 batteries to survive an average day so the Q will soon go away. A Blackberry 8820 is next.

I have the Q9m and love it. The only thing I use my Axim for anymore is connecting to my home WiFI and streaming online radio (I'm in highschool and saving up for college, there's no way I can afford a data connection).

That's my exact situation. I love my Q and my Axim is just sitting there. That has made me start looking into Linux possibilities, but can't seem to find a good one.

That's weird, I plug my Q in when I go to bed and unplug it when I get up. There is no charging in between that and my battery rarely reaches below half (I'm not on the extended). I consider myself a heavy user, maybe it's just the reception I get where I live.

I have found that the Q gets VERY good reception, much better then everyone else's phones in my family. When we are in an urban area, they have to ask me to use my phone in order to place a call
